sometimes, hunger is exhausting
Sometimes, the hunger for battle is exhausting.
He knows something is still missing. He's not a bottomless pit that will never be full - he's not that artificial. And he knows it's not a partner because Ryo is here, beside him - and why should anything be missing after Ryo?
But something is. Something pulls him from one place to another, and Ryo with him. Something that won't let him sit calmly and look at the earth, won't let him enjoy a quiet peace - because that's no peace. Something's missing. And because of that he hungers, and because he hungers, he fights.
For the most part he's content to search until he can find what's missing from the void, but sometimes he does wish he could lie back and just look at the twinkling earth. Because it can be exhausting otherwise, searching relentlessly, unable to find peace.
If only he knew what was missing now... At least, before, he'd known it was his partner. He'd known it was Ryo. But Ryo's beside him, or behind him, or riding on him. It's not Ryo now.
(It's everybody else, it's companionship, but he hasn't realised it yet.)
