Write Me a Song

Author's Notes:

This is a Harry Potter (Alternate Universe) fan fiction involving mainly Severus Snape and Harry Potter, set in Vienna in the 1800s. This story is not historically correct but I find this time period very interesting. I do not own these characters but I wish I did. By the way this is my first Harry Potter fan fic so please be nice.

Chapter One

Harry Potter's emerald eyes sparkled as he spotted his reason for defying his family, his friends and his fiancé. Vienna the central heart of the musical movement in Austria. Here and only here could the seventeen year old musician play, sing and discuss his one true love and passion.

The youngest Potter of eight was been by far the most talented and brightest of his siblings yet he had for years been ignored because his father dotted upon his oldest brother James. Harry knew his brother was not stupid and had faired quite easily in his music lessons but he lacked any passion or love for knowledge. The two siblings were ten years apart and as James became tired of school at sixteen, Harry was starting to desire knowledge for music more than ever. But alas nothing changed in his favor. His father, James the Elder paid only for his first born to receive tutelage and lessons while ignoring his other seven children.

Ella, the second born and a year younger than James sat through all his lessons and studies and started teaching piano to Harry quite well at the age of four.

Eleanor, the third in line, two years younger than Ella, received violin lessons from an elder man down the street in exchange for help with the house work. (He had been widowed only a few years and was still baffled on what to do.) She was ecstatic when at six he asked if he could come and help and receive lessons as well.

Joseph and Jane, the twins were only a year younger than Eleanor but they were a great help to Harry. When he escaped to learn violin or play on the church piano they covered his chores so he would not anger father. Even though he would probably never return home he would always remember they're unexplainable kindness and affection towards him.

Then there was Erik, a whole two years younger than the twins…..he was altogether unexplainable. He did not speak much to anyone except mother. Sometimes during a warm fire had almost died during a harsh winter he could hear Erik and mom speaking as they tried to rekindle the flames but other than that he had never heard his brother speak. Harry knew he was kind though, he had often seen his brother aiding the wildlife like returning a fallen egg to its nest or help fixing a wounded fox's leg.

Jacqueline, the youngest of all the girls was the most empty-headed, clumsiest, fool that probably ever walked the planet but he loved her dearly. She was the reason he had the courage to end the engagement with his fiancé, Hermione Granger and leave to this wonderful city.

"Do you love her?" she had asked him. Of courser he replied in a round out matter, "She is my fiancée."

She rolled her eyes and grinned, "Do you imagine each day waking up to the sound of her voice bidding you good morning or see her holding your children? Can you imagine a life without her? Do you love her?"

He had know the answer long before she ever asked the question but still he remembered not being able to form the words. He loved music more than any person in the universe, nothing was more important than his love for music. After his talk with Jackie, he packed his bags, broke his engagement, and shocked his family members and close friends than walked out the doors! He had never felt so FREE in his entire life. Now he could begin to start a life away from everything he had ever know and he was actually a bit frightened.
