Austin walked into Austin and Ally's Music Factory early. He knew he wasn't going to be the first one there because Ally always seems to beat him there no matter how early he got there. He saw his beautiful girlfriend walking down the stairs to greet him.
"Hey, beautiful," he said.
"Hey, Monica," Ally said as she stood on her toes for her good morning kiss, but Austin stopped her.
"Why are you calling me by my middle name?"
"Because I think it's pretty and I really like it."
"But it's a girl's name."
"I know, Monica."
"Stop it, Ally."
Ally realized she wasn't going to get her kiss and she really wanted that kiss. "I'll make you a deal." She said.
"What's the deal?"
"I get to call you Monica for twenty-four hours…"
"No deal."
"Let me finish, Monica." She said with a smile.
Austin looked at her. "Fine." He said as he sat on the piano.
"I get to call you Monica for twenty-four hours without a single complaint from you and I'll tell you my middle name."
Austin sat there with his mouth open. "You'll tell me your middle name if I let you call me Monica without complaining."
"Yep," Ally said, popping at the "p".
"You have yourself a deal, Dawson."
Austin and Ally shook on it. Austin then gave her a kiss, saying, "There now my morning is good."
(Insert Intro)
Ally blushed and said, "Ok Monica carry this box upstairs for me."
"Aww man," Austin said as he picked up the box.
"I thought we agreed no complaining?"
"Yeah about my middle name, but I realized I should have made you have to kiss me more in public."
"Yeah…no," she said shooing him with her hands. Austin carried the box upstairs. Trish then came in and said, "Guess who got Austin and Ally an interview about their new school?"
"Way to go, Trish. You know you have always been good at this manager thing."
"I know right? It surprises me too."
Then Austin came down the stairs and said, "I put the instruments from the box in their proper places. Anything else you need?"
"No, Monica, thanks," Ally said.
"Why are you calling him by his middle name?" Trish asked.
"Ally and I made a deal. She can call me by my middle name for the next twenty-four hours, I can't complain that entire time, and then she will tell me her middle name. So by this time tomorrow, I will know her full name." Austin said proudly.
"Wait, you are going to tell him your middle name before you tell me?" Trish asked.
Ally realized the situation she put herself in, but there was no backing out now. "Well, yeah. I mean he is my boyfriend."
"I am your best friend." Trish countered.
"Well, I want to start with Austin. I'm sure I'll tell you some other time."
Trish realized that she was not going to win this argument so she asked, "Why haven't you told us before now anyway?"
"Well, I enjoy being the only one in our group who no one knows the middle name of. I can use it to control you guys. Of course, I never would until now, but that's because I trust you guys enough with it."
"Well, how about you call me by my middle name?" Trish asked.
"Because Maria is a normal girl's name," Austin said.
"Fine." Trish said. She then walked out of the store.
For the rest of the day until the interview, Austin and Ally helped their students with their respective instruments. The entire time Ally would call Austin Monica. He would take a deep breath every time and mumble something about her middle name. Ally couldn't help but laugh every time he did this. She did feel really bad for him so she would give him a kiss every once and a while to keep him strong.
"Oh, hey, Monica…" Ally began.
"Cut, cut, cut." Dez appeared out of nowhere. He went up to Austin and the two of them did their handshake. "Where were you all day, Dez?" Austin asked.
"Around here. I am recording you guys without you noticing so that all your fans will see what a normal day at the Austin and Ally Music Factory is like, but Ally keeps messing up the line. His name is Austin, Ally." Dez said looking at her. "Say it with me. "Austin." He used his hands to move her mouth.
"Dez, it's part of a deal that Ally and I made." Austin told him.
"Oh that's right. I remember that now. OK continue."
Ally turned back to Austin, "We have and interview today about the Music Factory."
"What and you have to call me Monica the entire time?" He asked thinking that she was joking.
"Yes, I do." She said with a smile. Austin then realized that she was serious. "I wasn't looking forward to the interview, but now that I remember that I am."
Before Austin could protest, the interviewer came in and started asking questions almost immediately. Austin was able to keep Ally from calling him Monica by answering the questions that involved both of them. For instance when the interviewer asked about how they teach the students, Ally told them what she does and was about to say what Austin does, but Austin quickly said what he does before she could get the words out. However, the interviewer asked a question directed at Ally and Ally only, "Are there any future tours for you and if so what is going to happen with the Music Factory?"
"Well," Ally began with a smile. Austin knew that he had no choice because he had no idea what the answer was to either of those questions were. "Ronnie says that I have at least one or two more tours before he'll end my contract so I can focus on this place. He was really understanding. He even made donations to this place and offered to take on any rising star we might have. As for what will happen to this place, the students will still be welcome here. I'm sure Monica here can take care of everything."
"Monica?" the interviewer asked.
"Yes, that's Austin's middle name."
"Wait," the interviewer said with a chuckle. "Your middle name is Monica?"
Soon everyone was laughing except for Austin and Ally. Austin finally stood up and said, "You know what. Yes, Monica is my middle name. I never liked it because it was a girl's name, but right now I don't care. My name is Austin Monica Moon and I'm proud of it."
With that Austin left and went home. He didn't talk with anyone for the rest of the night.
The next morning Austin was awoken by a knock at the door. "Austin, Ally's here to see you so make yourself look presentable."
Austin moaned, but got up and changed. He quickly fixed his hair and opened the door. Ally was standing in the door way. "Hey, Austin."
He didn't say anything. He just walked back into his room. Ally followed him in. A moment of silence followed. Ally finally said, "I'm proud of you."
"Is that why you made the deal? So that I would embarrass myself in front of everyone."
"Actually, no. That was an accident, but I am still proud of you and you shouldn't be embarrassed."
"Everyone knows my middle name is Monica. What's not to be embarrassed about?"
"Well, have you seen your fanpage lately?"
"No, why?"
"Well you should see some of the comments about the interview last night."
Ally brought up Austin's fanpage and showed him all the comments. Most of them were people commenting on his courage to stand up and tell the truth like that. Others were people who said they had embarrassing names as well and that Austin encouraged them to embrace it. Ally stopped before continuing. "OK, this last one is the most important and the reason I am proud of you."
She scrolled down and let Austin read the message.
"Dear Austin,
My name is Abigail Katelyn Aberforth. My name might not seem strange to you at first, but when I tell you the first thing you need to know about me, it will all make sense. That thing is that I am a boy. I have been home schooled since first grade, I currently am an eighth grader. I am a huge fan of yours and Ally's music. Both have you inspired me. Ally inspired me to want to try and get over my fear of being made fun of for my name and Austin you inspired me to stand up for it. You see when my mom was giving birth to me, she needed more morphine to help with the pain. However, she became to drug addled to actually know what was going on. My dad had a heart attack halfway through the birth so he had to be taken out of the room while I was born. After my mom had given birth to me, they told her I was a boy and asked what my name was, and she said, Abigail Katelyn Aberforth. She didn't realize that they had said I was a boy and just said the name they were going to give me if I was a girl. When I found out at the age of four that I had a girl's name, I convinced my parents to home school me. They of course obliged because it was an accident that I even had a girl's name and they felt guilt for it. I never left the house because I was too embarrassed by my name. This year my parents asked me if I planned on attending an actual high school. I told them that I planned to be home schooled for that before joining my dad as a mechanic where I could be called only by my last name and not have to worry about my full name getting in the way. However, when I saw the interview yesterday, I realized that I had nothing to be ashamed of. Lots of people have embarrassing names. You, Austin, are proof alongside all of these other people. I told my parents that I changed my mind and that I was going to attend high school next year and then go to college to be a doctor. So twelve years from now, you and Ally might be taking your kids to the doctor's office and find that your doctor's name is Abigail Katelyn Aberforth and he will tell you to just call him Abby.
Thanks for everything,
Abigail Katelyn Aberforth"
Below this was a picture of the boy with his parents. Lots of people said that they were moved by his letter and he got lots of girls asking for his number.
Austin could feel tears welling up in his eyes so he quickly turned and hugged Ally. Suddenly he said, "Wait you called me Austin. Are the twenty-four hours up?"
Ally laughed, "Yeah, they are."
Austin danced for joy. Then he turned to Ally, "So what's your middle name?"
Ally smiled at him and said, "Andrew."
"Am I the only one with a weird middle name?"
"Austin, I just said that my middle name was Andrew."
"Yeah, that's the perfect middle name for a bo…oh." Austin said looking at Ally.
She smiled at him and nodded.
"So your full name is Allyson Andrew Dawson?"
"Yes, it is. That's why I love that your middle name is Monica. It's another thing that you and I have in common and it makes me feel closer to you."
"It makes me feel closer to you too." Austin said just before he kissed her.
After a few moments they just held each other in their arms. Austin whispered into her ear, "You know I have to tell Dez and Trish now right."
"I know and shut up your ruining the moment."
