Katnissss!

Ahh, nothing better than waking up to my little sister's angelic voice screaming at me. To be honest I really don't understand why she's so excited for our first day. She loves school and she's a smart girl. I, on the other hand am the opposite. Back at my old school, I had two friends named Jordan and Andrea. I didn't really talk to anyone and didn't care about school, but I managed to keep my grades above a C-. I promised Prim that I would try to make over five friends at this school, but I didn't tell her that there's a high chance that no one will want to be friends with the new girl.

I guess I can worry about making friends later. I need to get ready for school. I go and take a quick shower, then look at my plain complexion in the mirror. It's not that I'm ugly or anything, I'm just far from pretty or beautiful even. I do my hair in a quick fishtail braid, then walk to my closet. I don't usually care about what I wear, but I know for a fact that is I throw on some sweats and a t-shirt, Prim will throw me back upstairs before you can say mockingjay. So, I get a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and a forest green Hollister long-sleeve shirt that hugs all the right places.

I go downstairs and see Prim in the cutest pink dress eating cereal. She offers me some but I shake my head no and grab a banana. I need to get us to school soon.

In five minutes we're heading out the door. I'm pretty sure that school is ten to fifteen minutes away. Prim's school is called Jabberjay Middle School. Mine is called Panem High. While we are walking Prim talks about how excited she is.

She takes me by surprise when she says "Katniss, do you think that the other kids will like me?" Oh, my little Prim. She doesn't see how everyone adores her as soon as they meet her. I respond "Of course little duck, they'd be crazy not to". I send her the best smile I can muster to reassure her. Then I wonder, will the kids like me? I shock myself with that question, because Katniss Everdeen doesn't care about what anyone thinks. Katniss Everdeen is independent, fierce and doesn't need anyone. Except Prim of course. I shake my head to clear those thoughts.

When we have about ten more minutes of walking, a shiny red mustang drives up to us. I instinctively put Prim behind me when I see this guy come out. He's about my age and really tall. He has spiked up blonde hair and cool blue eyes. I could get lost in his eyes forever. I stare at him and he stares back for a few moments when I clears his throat and asks, "Are you guys going to Panem High?" Normally, I'd tell him to go away, but I want to know this guy. Maybe become friends, or more. So I tell him, "We have to go to Jabberjay Middle School first." He grins and says "Can I give you girls a ride?"

Before I can politely tell him no thank you, Prim squeals and says "YES, YES, YESSS!" Him and I laugh and I tell him ok. He grins again and Prim climbs into the backseat, then I get in the front. Here we go, I think.

Thank you to anyone that read this. Please review and tell me what you think.
