"Ganpa Ibbs!" He heard the little girl squeal.
He turned around in time to see her climbing down the stairs and launching herself into his legs, hugging him.
Gibbs laughed and picked her up, staring at her beautiful green eyes.
"Hello there Sarah. You're getting bigger every day." He acted as if he couldn't hold her weight, making her laugh.
"Silly Ibbs!" She said.
In that moment he saw the girl's parents in the stairs, smiling down at her.
"Boss, could you watch her for a couple of hours? Ziva and I have a doctor's appointment and we gotta go shopping for the baby." Tony explained.
Gibbs nodded and was about to answer when Sarah beat him to it.
"Me go shopping!"
Tony grinned and took her from Gibbs.
"We have to visit the doctor, and you know how booooooring that is." He made a big show of showing how boring it was.
Ziva smiled at the sight of her husband talking to their little girl.
Sarah furrowed her eyebrows in a totally Ziva-fashion and Tony couldn't help but grin again.
"'K." She replied.
Tony put her down and kissed her forehead, then turned to Gibbs while Ziva hugged and kissed their daughter.
"Thanks for watching her Boss. It means a lot." Tony said sincerely.
Gibbs shrugged. "She's my granddaughter, and I like spending time with her."
Tony smiled softly and tuned to Sarah once again.
"Be good for grandpa Gibbs and he may even let you know how he gets his boats out of the basement." He winked at her.
"Bye bye." Sarah said to her parents.
Tony and Ziva walked into the doctor's office and sat down while awaiting their turn.
"So sweetcheeks." Tony broke the silence, "what do you want, a boy or a girl?"
"Healthy." She replied. "And you?" She added as an afterthought.
"Hmmm, I would like a baby boy… ohh no no, another baby girl, no, baby boy, girl… geez, this is frustrating!"
Ziva simply rolled her eyes.
Once inside the doctor's office Ziva walked into the exam table, changed into a gown and sat waiting for the doctor while Tony paced up and down.
After a few minutes a doctor entered and got ready to start Ziva's ultrasound.
As the doctor put the transducer on Ziva's belly, the heartbeat could be heard and that brought smiles to Tony's and Ziva's faces.
"Do you want to know the sex of the baby?" The doctor asked.
"Yes, please." They answered at the same time, both feeling very excited.
The doctor pointed to the screen. "This indicates that the baby is a boy."
Tony grinned and Ziva struggled not to cry. The doctor left them alone and Tony kissed her softly. "We're having a baby boy." He whispered against her lips.
Meanwhile at Gibbs' house he kept working on his boat while Sarah sat on the floor drawing.
"Ganpa Ibbs."
"Ganpa Ibbs." She repeated louder.
"Yes, sweetheart?" He asked her.
"How get boat out?" she asked in her broken English.
