Heartbreaker

Author's Note: I've written my first drabble! Exactly one-hundred words. This is also the first in my Pat Benatar series. None of these will be song-fics! I just wanted to try to brush up on my writing skills and I'm using all of the titles from her first album for my titles. They won't usually have anything to do with the song. They're just to give me direction. I'm writing stories around titles instead of the other way around. So before this gets longer than the story…on to the disclaimer.

We love each other and, worse than that, we know it. We see each other every day. We work together. We fight together. But we cannot love together even though we do all along. The fear I feel every time he is in danger is magnified by the fear of losing him without ever saying I love him. We deny it daily. Only when things come too close and we are alone do we momentarily allow ourselves comfort. Then, we pretend it never happened. We follow the regulations. We sacrifice everything for this world and to be good soldiers. Heartbreaker.
