Prologue
There were only so many things that anyone could take everyday: sleeping, eating, talking, reading, and training. Neji did three out of five on a daily basis... well, four out of five really, but you could barely consider it as daily. And it was because of this that he was sitting in one of those kami-be-damned hospital rooms, waiting for the medic to show up to check him over.
... Stupid Lee... I'm fine, really. I did not collaspe. It was a stratigic manouver to make him lose concentraition, and it worked!
The door opened, and he didn't bother paying any curtesies by looking up; his Byakuugan eyes saw the pinkette as she opened and closed the door calmly, a thin file in her hands. He wished the file would burn and go to hell.
"Neji-kun," Sakura said pleasantly, finding her chair and dragging it over to sit closer to him; he winched at the horrible sound it created, but other than that didn't move. "Lee-san says that you had a little... episoide."
"I'm fine," he drawled out evenly. "He takes things too seriously."
"Maybe so," he saw her shrug, opening the file to look at it. "But it's an excuse to get you here. Did you know that there are no records of you ever being in this hospital, outside of that one incident with the Akatsuki..?"
"I don't get hurt," he answered, frowning at something he was non-challantly watching two floors below. ... Lee brought Gai? Damn it, Kami-sama, kill me now...
"Obviously you do..." she stood up suddenly, and Neji blinked and looked up at her for the first time. ... far too much make-up. What is with the kunoichi of Konoha? Women in general are insane. "Now, strip and get on the bed."
"What?" He hoped he wasn't blushing... that wasn't something that he needed.
"Strip off your shirt," she rolled her green eyes, hands on her hips as she waited for him. He complaid slowly, ignoring the muttered 'pervert...' and reminding himself that this is just what she's supposed to be doing... He sat down on the bed easily enough, and pulled the shirt over his head. "That wasn't too difficult now, was it?"
She walked up to him, a chart in her hands as she did all the regular check-up routines; asking him to take deep breathes, reading his heart rate, checking his reflexes. He stayed tense the entire time, until finally, she told him he could put his shirt back on.
Pulling the shirt back over his head, he slipped off the bed and grabbed his jacket off of the chair he had been sitting in before.
He was almost at the door when Sakura spoke. "Hey, hey... hold up." The sound of her pen filled the room, but wasn't loud enough to cover the sudden pounding of his heart. "You're coming back here. You're too skinny."
Sweat pricked at the back of his neck. "I thought you women were obsessed with being skinny."
"Not with skinny boys we aren't," a quick look with byakuugan showed her rolling her eyes again. "And you're more than just skinny... you're just skin and bones. Don't you eat?"
"I eat enough to survive." He swallowed a painfully large lump in his throat.
Those three out of five things he did on a daily basis..? Reading, sleeping, and training. He didn't see the need for talking, and eating..? Well, so long as he had enough neutrients in his system, he would be fine; besides, it took time out of his day that could be devoted to one of the things he enjoyed doing.
"'Enough to survive' isn't the answer I was looking for," he heard her walking up to him, and she moved past him and opened the door. "You have an appointment tomorrow, noon, when I have give you more time out of the day to figure out everything wrong about you. For now, great words of wisdom... an apple a day keeps the doctor away."
