Hello everyone,
As we all know, the latest season of Power Rangers, Dino Charge, premiered a few weeks ago. This season marks quite a break in tradition, as there is no yellow ranger. Red, yellow and blue always were the main colors, then another spot was green or black (except RPM) and the other was pink or white (not counting Jungle Fury). So that got me thinking... why is there no yellow ranger? Yes, it's because of the Sentai footage, but still, I thought it was a fun idea to play around with. That is where this brief one-shot story came from. It is meant to be more on the "funny" side than the "serious" side, in case you are wondering what the tone of this story will be. As for placement, it takes place during the events of the first episode. It is also my first fan fiction, so please feel free to comment and critique, I am still "learning the ropes." And now, on with the story:
Things had quickly gone from bad to worse. One moment Keeper was being chased by a relentless space bounty hunter, and the next he had crash landed on an unfamiliar planet. As he came to grasp this new world around him, he suddenly found himself face to face with a "monster." A massive lizard like creature with a giant head, small arms and very sharp teeth stood face to face with Keeper. It roared, but Keeper kept his cool. "I mean you no harm... gather the bravest among you, I need your help."
As the giant lizard went off to do so, Keeper turned around and started searching through the remains of his spaceship. Underneath one piece of metal, he found an unusual rock. It was a meteor that had crashed not too long ago... in it were unusual glowing rocks, red, blue, yellow, black and white in color. Though intrigued, he dismissed them. "Interesting, but not what I am looking for. Perhaps someone will eventually find a use for those... I sense powers not that different from the energems." He continued to search, until at last he found it, an unusual looking capsule. He touched the top and it opened. Inside were nearly a dozen glowing crystals, each with a unique color. "Ah... the energems" he said to himself. Then he proceeded to look them over "Let's see... red, blue, green, black, pink..." he stopped suddenly. He noticed an empty slot in the capsule. He recounted, and suddenly was afraid, "oh no, where is the yellow energem?! I must find it!" He held the capsule in one hand, and then began to search the surrounding rubble for it. "I can't let that bounty hunter get even one of these... it could mean the end of everything!" At last he turned around, and proceeded to run to another pile of wreckage. "I must find it before..." he suddenly stopped talking. On the step he had just taken, he heard a crunch… a sound almost like glass breaking. "Oh...no" he said to himself. Hoping that he had just simply stepped on a random piece of glass, he slowly began to raise his left foot. To his shock, there it was. A broken glass crystal, with its yellow color now flickering. The color remained for only a second more, before at last it disappeared, leaving behind only colorless glass.
Keeper palmed his face, "damn it" he said in frustration, before he realized one of the bounty hunter's monsters was coming, and had to take action quickly.
-And there's one possible reason why there is no yellow energem. Feel free to critique... any constructive criticism is welcome.
