Summary: Gokuu remembers the first time he got to play in the grass after getting out of the cave.

Gokuu remembers the first time he got to play in the grass. He supposes his feet have a distant memory of the soft-slick underneath them, but it was so fuzzy by the time it reached his brain that he only counted the temple grass. Sanzo had been busy, really busy, and the temple monks didn't want to play, but the sun was so warm!

So he had sneaked out the window and into the part of the yard that wasn't gardens for food or those funny little rocks; it was all long grass that they hadn't bothered cutting down yet. He watched the water drops falling from one blade to another (Sanzo had called it dew) and a lone bug creeping along the ground. Lightly, he raised himself onto the balls of feet and tips of fingers quivering with the want of movement until the bug paused for a few seconds. Gokuu launched himself at the unsuspecting bug to end up sliding halfway across the wet yard.

Oops, a stain on his shirt. Who cared, though? This was really fun! He lunged for the bug again and again until the dew was gone and Sanzo was shouting for him to get inside. Even if he was covered in stains, mud and half-dried dew, he couldn't wait to play in the grass again.
