"Gone"

"Yo, have you seen Canada?" "..who?" "Dude, have you seen Canada?" "Who?"

Alfred sighed most of the countries he had asked didn't even know who his twin brother was. Even when he described the nation they *still* didn't know. "France have you seen Canada?" "No, sorry Amerique~" France answered before going back to arguing with England.

The world meeting was over, yet he still couldn't find Canada he wasn't in his usual seat either, believe him… he checked.

America sat down slurping and taking bites out of the burger he was holding at McDonalds, sitting at the usual table he sat at. He sighed in a frustrated manner and set the cup down. He couldn't find Canada anywhere! 'I'll try his house' he thought finishing up, stuffing the rest of his fries into his mouth and walking out. America didn't know why but he had the sudden urge to talk to his little brother.

America shut his car door and walked up to Canada's house. He rang the door bell and stood outside on the porch with a miniature Canadian flag fluttering in the breeze beside him.

America rang the door bell again,

Still no answer

"Mattie! Dude are you here?" he hollered hoping the Canadian heard him and was heading to the door but alas there was still no answer.

He was getting worried, usually before he even got to knock the fourth or fifth time, Canada would have opened the door and would smile at him politely. He took out the spare key and unlocked the door adjusting his bomber jacket. The inside of the Canada's house smelled faintly like pancakes and maple syrup but there was no Canada. America went inside not bothering to take off his shoes as he looked around the house for the Canadian. 'Still no sign of him..'

Almost every single thing in the house had at least a couple of inches of dust, which was odd since Canada always made a point of keeping his house clean. There was no maple syrup left in the pantry and no sign of either the bear or Canada. Cobwebs were found everywhere in the house. When he looked out the window he suddenly noticed that the Canadian flag looked old and uncared for, the colours of the flag already faded to a tasteless red and white. America didn't notice at that time but when he drove through Ottawa (or was it Ontario?) he didn't pass a single car or person it was empty.. completely empty.

His heart sank with dread 'what happened here?!' He frantically searched the house calling Canada's name "Mattie?! Dude this isn't funny!"

But it was all in vain, Canada was gone. Yet no one seemed to notice.. he had only just noticed now. Now that he thought about it Canada barely showed up for the world meetings anymore and when he did, his clothing hung off of his shoulders, he looked sickly pale and was way too thin, back then he ignored it and went back to annoying the Englishman nearby while Canada stayed quiet and as usual unnoticed.

After another search through the house (he couldn't just give up! This might be just some sick joke Canada was pulling y'know…) America found a piece of yellowing paper on the ground next to Canada's bed.

'Dear Alfred,

I'm sorry..

I don't know what I'm apologizing for but… in case you haven't noticed,'

He couldn't help but feel his heart squeeze inside his chest painfully at the guilt

'I'm disappearing, my economy is failing. I tried to tell you but, you couldn't see me anymore.. I've accepted my fate don't worry. Goodbye Alfred, you were a good brother"

America collapsed in the middle of the living room his head clutched in his hands. A crumpled ball of paper in his hands.

A/N: AND CUT! How'd you like it? I'd like to thank my (virtual) Ate (big sister) for helping me come up with these -though she doesn't even know she's helped in any way xD-
