Chapter 1 – Beginning
Darkness. Just darkness. All he saw was darkness. It seemed as if it would have no end.
Yet, suddenly, there was a light. Then a man quickly came into view. He wore a tattered cloak and held an old-fashioned lantern with a candle inside. He and I seemed to be standing on nothing.
"Who are you?" I said.
"How about you introduce yourself first?" the man said.
"My name is Nicholas Deleon," I answered roughly, "Now who are you?"
"Call me Neo", the man said. "Where are we?" I said, "Why are you here? You are dreaming, but that doesn't mean that what I have to say isn't true. Now I need you to just listen, no interruptions. I can't speak with you for long."
"Your parents are a part of a group called the House of Light. About 15 years ago they retired from the front lines and are mostly scouts now who take on short scouting missions. Your parents also hide valuable information and objects for the HoL. They are strong fighters and used to be infamous for their strength. They also made many enemies. These enemies plan to attack your family tonight."
"What can I do?" I said.
"You're not surprised?" Neo said.
"I figure this is either a dream or it's real. Might as well go along with it," I said.
"Your parents already have an escape plan just in case. They originally planned to wait until you were 18 before telling you the truth and start training you to be warriors. That is, if you agreed to."
"What I need you to do is when you get contacted by a man whose name is Nitaro Soreno; ask him what his favorite color is. If he answers relange, tell him that yours is red and green. He is a friend of mine and has been guaranteed to be allowed to train one of you. By telling him these things, he'll know which one I have contacted. He will then decide to train you."
"Is that it?" I said.
"One more thing," Neo said. He then dug a grey backpack that looked like mine out of his large cloak and threw it at me. I caught it and started opening it when Neo said, "Don't. Open it with Soreno later. If we need to talk just pass messages through Soreno."
"How do I get out of here?" I said.
"You should wake up in a moment or two. Good luck. You'll need it." Neo said.
