A/N: So here's a random thing I wrote based on Raph's shell. Yes, I am fully aware that you can see it in the first episode during the flashback of right after they mutated, but I didn't realize that when I first started this.

So, it's non-canon. And yeah, the little "facts" with the real weapons vs. the practice ones may be inaccurate, but honestly, I can't bring myself to care too much at the moment. I still can't tell if I wanna start packing yet or not.

We all arrived in training early that morning. Could you blame us? We were young kids, and it was the first day we would get to use real weapons instead of the practice ones we had been using.

What we didn't know was that the 'real' weapons would be…harder to use: all of them were larger and heavier than their wooden counterparts.

Mikey had been the wildest with his—as always. The rest of us made sure to clear the area of the dojo he was in and managed to avoid injury.

Raph took to his like a natural. The metal sai were much slimmer in his hands than the wooden ones, which compensated for the metal being heavier and allowed him to slice through the air.

Donnie and I were having more issues due to the extended lengths and—in my case—weights of our "real" weapons compared to the practice ones.

Raph refused to let us train in peace.

Even as a young child, he was always filled with a drive to compete.

"Leo, bet you can't beat me in sparring," he called out.

I let out a deep breath. Raph's challenges never should be taken seriously unless you want things to end badly.

"Bet I couldn't. With practice, I will be, though."

Suddenly Mikey let out a loud cry of pain—he had hit himself with his nunchucks. It had left a huge mark on his forehead, so Splinter had left with him to ice it.

We were told to continue practicing. Of course, Raph had his own ideas.

"Why don't we go one on one, Leo?"

"No thank you, Raph."

One thing about Raph, though, is how stubborn he can be.

He wouldn't leave me alone.

Every time I turned, he was right there, attempting to block my strikes with his sai. He had turned my practice into his personal sparring game.

I tried to keep from hurting him, but I wasn't accustomed to the weight or length of the new swords, and it fell on his shoulder…

Line Break

"...Splinter came in right after, though Donnie had already started working at trying to help Raph. I…I saw the blood and freaked. I had hurt my own brother."

April started fidgeting at everything that had just been explained to her. She hadn't expected a pretty story when she asked how Raph got the scar on his shoulder, but she also hadn't expected to had been from his brothers—let alone Leo.

"I'm sorry. I wouldn't have asked if I knew."

"It's fine." Leo quickly turned to look over his shoulder before adding, "Raph doesn't like mentioning it. So…"

"Alright." April then wrapped her arms around Leo before adding, "And just so you know, it wasn't your fault."

A/N: Haha, sappy ending. Anyway, I have nothing to add, so review.
