A/N: An Eowyn/Faramir fic written for Super Serious Gal 3 as a late birthday present. It took a while to manage; I don't write enough LoTR apparently (and everything I do write seems to have Aragorn in it…). Enjoy. :D

His Sister's Keeper

The kings of Gondor and Rohan had oft met in the past, but that was in the prelude and aftermath of war. Now, they sat in the company of each other, their squires, and a comfortable mug of ale apiece, discussing a forecoming wedding.

'You have agreed.' Aragorn raised an eyebrow over his mug, enjoying the long since familiar scent of The Little Pony's famous brewages. Even the finer wine from the south could not compare to it.

'I had no objections,' Eomer replied, amused. 'Certainly, my sister has picked a man worthy of her…and who can tame the wild spirit within.' They both chuckled as the recalled Merry's account of what had occurred in the healing house. 'My dear sister was simply reluctant to ask.'

The two men chuckled at that. Both were familiar with the shield maiden's fiery spirit, and to see her hesitant was a rare treat. 'I am happy for her,' Aragorn said sincerely. 'She is a strong woman, and Faramir a good man.' Frodo and Sam could attest to that more than he, but he knew enough to be confident in his own assertion.

'I am happy as well, though I'm sure she will visit often. She has not been far from Rohan before.'

'Except the battle for Gondor,' Aragorn reminded, to which a shadow crossed Eomer's face.

'Though,' the king of Rohan sighed, 'if not for that battle, she may never have found true love and clung to the illusion of you forever.'

'And if not for her and Merry,' Aragon looks sidelong at the hobbit, engaged in animated conversation with Pippin, 'the Witch King of Angmar may have killed far more. But she was a restless spirit who had not found her place in the world and hurting.' The fault there was partially his, he knew, because she had fallen in love with a man who wholeheartedly loved another.

'This is too sombre a mood,' Eomer remarked after a brief pause, before draining his mug. 'I came here to invite you to a wedding!'
