It's stupid. I really didn't feel anything it was just the adrenaline from almost drowning.
Toph was racking her mind as to why her heart suddenly started racing every time she heard Suki speak. Maybe it was just some adrenaline kicking back in. After all if it wasn't for Suki, Toph would have drowned. Looking back she remembers the last voice she heard before going under was Sokka's telling her to hold on. She didn't realize that Sokka didn't save her tell she had already planted a kiss on the cheek of who she thought was Sokka. That was when Suki decided to tell her it was her. Toph had never felt so embarrassed in her entire life. She was actually kind of hoping Suki would let her drown. But the more Toph felt about it the more she realized how safe she had felt in the warriors arms. Suki had been concerned about Toph when they got back to dry land. She had asked Toph multiple times if she was alright. Toph told her each time she was better now that she was back on land where she could see. Toph started to think about Suki's voice. Her voice was almost like Katara's but didn't have a slight motherly tone as Katara's voice was known to have at times. Suki's voice was soothing to Toph. It had helped calm Toph's nerves after the water incident but now it made her heart race every time Suki spoke.
It's nothing. Just adrenaline kicking back in. Besides Suki has a thing for Sokka, she couldn't have feelings for me.
Toph groaned and rolled over on her side. Emotions and feelings suck. It made it harder for her because she couldn't talk to anyone about what she was feeling. Katara would freak out and probably start shouting at her. Twinkle toes might start off on something the monks taught him. Sokka would probably freak out the most and might actually try to fight Toph. He would lose in a heartbeat but Toph might lose her friends if she told anyone about her feelings towards Suki. It would be best to keep them to herself and hope that once Suki was gone that the feelings would leave with her and never come back. Toph decide to try to get some sleep for now. She grabbed a rock and played with it till she fell asleep.
The group had finally made it through the Serpent's Pass. Not long after they were safe, did Katara have to deliver a baby that choose that moment to come. After the baby was born, Toph was sitting around waiting to see what the group was going to do now. She heard someone walking off a little bit. She could tell it was Sokka and Suki. She couldn't hear everything the two were saying but she did pick up on the fact that Suki was leaving.
Good. She's going back to the other warriors and now I can get my feelings under control. I can go back to being the badass earthbender I am.
But Toph felt just a little sad that Suki was leaving. Shaking her head, Toph flicked a small pebble. She really need to get her emotions under control before they get to far. She didn't want a relationship right now. She just wanted to teach Aang earthbending and kick some Fire nation butt along the way. Maybe after Suki leaves Toph would be back to her normal self. She could only hope.
