Joy was wondering what was it she had done wrong. Once she and Fabian had been the best friends no one could ever separate, but now she noticed that wasn't the case anymore. Sure at the beginning she blamed Nina for this, but now that her problems with Nina were down the drain she still felt invisible when it came to the first person she ever met at the House of Anubis. She remembered that day like it was yesterday and would always recall the memory when she was having a bad day like she was now.

Joy Mercer was as nervous as a young eleven year old girl could be now that the day came for her first day of attendance at the Anubis House her parents told her so much about over the summer. What was only making matters worse was the fact that the weather she was walking in was dreary and honestly ruining the cheerful girl's mood.

As she was in her own wonderland of worries, she didn't pay attention to the young boy she then accidentally ran into, knocking the books and the boy himself down on the ground.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" Joy apologized sincerely as she helped him back on his feet.

"It's my fault..I should've been paying attention to where I was going, I'm Fabian Rutter." the shy, chocolate brown eyed brunette greeted as he gave Joy a welcoming smile.

"I'm Joy Mercer..are you a student here?"

"Yeah actually, I'm staying in Anubis House."

"Really? So am I!" replied Joy happily.

"That's great, do you happen to know where the house is because I've been lost for the past twenty minutes." Fabian admitted.

"I do, I'd be happy to show you." Joy answered confidently.

"I'd like that, thanks Joy."

"My pleasure."

It seemed from that day on Fabian and Joy became as close as two people could get. From the smallest secrets of their childhood to the reasons why they were sent to the school people would tease was for the worst children in their families. But what Joy just couldn't believe is that close relationship she cherished with Fabian was slipping away from her grasp.

"Hey Joy, are you okay?" Fabian questioned as he entered her room with an expression of concern across his face as he sat next to her on her floral bedspread.

"Uh sure, why wouldn't I be?" Joy responded trying her best attempt of a true tone of happiness in her voice.

"Because I've known you forever and you never hesitate when we talk..what's wrong Joy-Bells?" Fabian asked again using the nickname Joy hadn't heard in what felt like ages.

"How come we aren't as close as we used to be?" blurted out Joy as she immediately covered her mouth in shock after she spoke.

"I've been asking myself the same thing lately..why didn't you say something earlier?" Fabian answered truthfully.

"Because I didn't want you to think I was jealous of 'Fabina'.." Joy replied referring to the couple name Amber created for him and Nina.

"I would've understood..I want to fix this Joy, say a movie this weekend just the two of us?" Fabian suggested with a grin Joy loved to see was meant for her.

"Do you think Nina or Amber would get upset?"

"I don't see why they would Joy, but if it'll help I'll explain we're going out as friends..best friends."

"Okay it's a deal Fabes." Joy replied with a bright grin.

"Good..and Joy?"

"Yeah?"

"You know you're not invisible to me right?" Fabian spoke up as he gave Joy a meaningful hug.

Joy was speechless. Maybe things between her and Fabian would turn out better, even go back to the close bond they shared that Joy missed so dearly but knew wasn't close to fading away in the least.

"I do now..thanks."
