Get used to it

Zero sat at the campfire, a sad smile on his face, his wind blown hair ruffled. Around the fire sat Littlepip and Calamity. Zero was sad to hear that Steelhooves had met his demise, doubely so seeing that he was finally beginning to heal after so long.

It was to bad that Velvet Remedy wasn't here to amplify the old gramophones tune, which had a quite crackle to it.

As the tune of the music got quiet, Zero spoke, his voice soothing and deep. "Listen. All this takes a lotta getting used to." He gestured around at the broken remains of what used to be Canterlot, towards the Everfree forest, and the thick black smog that floated from it, "And you do get used to it... After a while."

Zero was quite for a moment, before continuing, "There's three things I'll always miss though." He reached into his pack, retriving several disarmed landmines. "One, not having to watch my step all the time..." He replaced the mines.

"Two..." He shook his head, chuckled a little, "naaaaaaaah, forget about two."

"And three... I miss the songs. Folks from Equestria knew how to carry a tune. Sure we've got some songs on the old gramophone, but try and imagine what they sounded like, playing to a room full of fine ponies, unwinding at the sole regret after a hard day's work."

He shook his head as the music came to a close. "Those were the days..."
