"Hey, Enjolras, would you mind going and getting Eponine for me? She's in the room next door, I have a letter for Cosette I need her to deliver," Marius says - quite possibly all in one breath - with a smile.

Enjolras sighs and relents, because Marius will whine all day if he denies him. He swings the door shut lightly behind him as he exits his friend's home, and walks a few steps down the hallway to where he knows Marius' shadow's family lives. He also knows that they never bother locking their door, so he simply opens it casually.

"'Parnasse - stop - no, I'm not - cheating on you, what are you even talking about we're not together - my father charges you to sleep with me, you asshole!"

She lets out no noise as the back of his hand collides with her face, simply falls to the ground for a split second before getting up again, staring him down like she's not afraid, even though we know there is. He starts toward her again, fire ablaze in his eyes, when all of a sudden there's a body in front of her and a deep voice. "I suggest you back away," the voice says calmly. Something the man does must convince Montparnasse it's in his best interests to leave, because she hears the door open and close and if it were Montparnasse and her alone she'd be on the floor again by now.

"Who are you, and why are you in my room?" Eponine outright demands.

Ignoring her inquiry, Enjolras looks at her incredulously. "You were just going to let him - hit you?" He spits out.

"My father would just beat me worse if he hears I fought back and lost him money, and he's stronger and crueler anyway, so…"

Enjolras is staring at her with something that looks overwhelmingly like pity, and that alarms her.

"Don't presume to know me, monsieur," she glares, grabbing the letter from his hands and nudging past him.
