Pushed out of the Nest

The small black pug shivered in the cold. She inched slowly closer to her mamma pug, whose name was Brownie. Her brothers and sisters in the litter swarmed around her, trying, and succeeding, in getting closer to Brownie. They pushed the small pug out, back into the unforgiving cold.

She suddenly heard a THUMP. It was more like two THUMPS. The small human, called Lexi by the big humans was coming closer with the awkward gait of the two-legged sort. "Hey little puggie wuggies," he said in a babying like voice "its adoption day today and you know what that means: three little puggies get new homes!"

The other pugs pushed the smallest pug even farther away until she was in one corner of the box. "We have a volunteer!" Lexi squealed in delight.

She picked up the small pug and then two others that were pushed away from their loving mother. "Look cute!" she called as she set them down in their pen before she skipped away giggling with excitement.

All of the humans were in front of them, staring complementing them with "Aww's" and 'oh isn't that one just darling." The small pug jumped up on her hind legs, looking cute. No one noticed her. They were looking at the other two: asleep and looking cuter than her. One woman was shoving through the crowd. She was saying, "Excuse me, pardon me, GET OUT OF MY WAY YOU BABBLING BUFFONS!" Finally she made her way to the pen and spotted the small pug. "Aww, your sooo cute." She cooed. Then she said, "I'll take this one."

The big humans picked her up and put her in the woman's arms. "I'll name you Petula!" she exclaimed. It's an okay name. Not the best, but okay. Thought the small... I mean Petula.

Suddenly she was put into a box thingy. Then, she was shoved into a minibus. A circle thing was given to her. She took a bite out of it. It was pretty good. "This is a chocolate chip cookie." said the woman. As the minibus drove on she got a stomachache. They were on the road for about two hours. Finally, they pulled up to a large house. She walked inside and saw that there were small humans everywhere! She was brought to a large room with drab curtains, and wallpaper falling off the walls. She saw a pillow in the corner and went to it. She was tossed a 'cookie' and then fell asleep.

The next morning she was brought out side where she picked up a round thing called a rock. She tried to eat it, but it would not go down. She thought that sucking on it was good enough though. She went inside right after. Now, she could explore the house.

In almost every room she peered into there were platforms held up by odd metal spikes. She didn't think much of them. In one room she looked in there was a much different scene. There was one LARGE human and two very very very small humans. The large human was singing to them. The song went like this:

"Forgive little birds that brown cuckoo

For pushing you out of your nests.

It's what mamma cuckoo taught it to do-

She taught it that pushing is best."

She growled, remembering her brothers and sisters who pushed her out. Like the song said however, she forgave them.
