boo: *snores*

Disclaimer: She's had a long day. And she doesn't own FFVII, or these characters, or anything really, so don't bother suing her.

"Today is kind of dumb." Yuffie said suddenly into the quite air. She was laying in the grass on Midgar field as he sat beside her. They were both soaking wet and covered in mud, grass, and bits of fur.

"Yes." He agreed.

The day had started, as many days started, with her yanking the blankets off him, and exuberantly demanding he go shopping with her. So he had showered, eaten the toast and eggs she had made him while he was in the shower (both burnt, but he knew she had tried). Shopping in Kalm, however, was not Yuffie's taste. So they were going to have to go to Midgar.

Normally this wasn't a problem. Vincent had a car now, in addition to a cell phone. But when he turned the key in the ignition to start the car, nothing happened. A brief glance under the hood showed that some one had stolen his battery, and there was no store that sold them in Kalm. So they had started walking to Midgar. That was fine too, at first. They had both done a lot of walking during and after the Sephiroth affair, and the monsters in the area had dwindled since then.

And then it started raining. Raining, actually, was an understatement. It was more like some sick and twisted deity had turned on the faucet of the heavens. It had gone from clear to downpour in less than five minutes. Instantly they were soaked and couldn't see more than five feet in front of them. They tried to take cover under Vincent's coat, but apparently they were in a flash flood zone.

That's where the mud had come from.

They pulled themselves out of the muddy river, and the rain cleared up almost immediately. Wet, muddy, and annoyed at the weather, they continued towards Midgar. Thirty minutes later they heard a strange rumbling. Puzzled, they had looked around, just in time to see a herd (or is it flock?) of wild Chocobos stampeding straight towards them. They ran away as quickly as they could, but the herd caught up to them. Fortunetly they weren't trampled, only left coughing and gasping in the dust cloud the Chocobos let in their wake.

That's where the grass had come from.

As soon as the dust cloud settled they brushed the worst of the grass and dust off their faces and hands. They looked in the direction the Chocobo had come from, wondering what had caused them to stampede. Just a few yards off was a gaggle of strangely dressed people, yelling curse words, dirty limericks, and tossing tufts wolf fur into the air as the chased after the Chocobos. Before the could react the strange people had surrounded them, covered them in fur, and left.

That's where the fur came from.

Exhausted, annoyed and filthy, they had plopped down in the middle of the field, assuming that if they stayed in one spot they were much less likely to end up in any weirder a situation. So far this had proven correct, but neither of them were counting in it to last.

"Still." Yuffie said, once again breaking the silence. "It's a dumb day spent with my best friend, so it's not all bad."

"Yes." Vincent agreed again. He looked down at her. His best friend. The person he could spend endless hours with. He would rather spend a dumb day with her than anyone else in the world. He stood up. "Shall we continue?"

Yuffie jumped to her feet, grinning. "Lets!"
