Pepper Gets a Gun

Pepper walked out of the gun shop nervously looking around as if she had just done something wrong. She hadn't of course but she felt as if she had. She felt this way because currently sitting in her little black purse was a new silver handgun that Tony had forced her to buy. After all of the attempts on Tony's and Pepper's lives over the past couple of years Tony had become concerned for Pepper's safety.

"Can't have my CEO getting hurt now can I? What would I do then?" he had joked. After the 'Hammer incident' Pepper had quit being his CEO but Tony had been doing his best to change her mind and his latest strategy involved pretending that she already had. All joking aside Pepper could tell that there was some genuine concern behind that smirk and had reluctantly agreed to try to get a licence to own a gun. Luckily, or unluckily depending on your viewpoint, being the CEO of Stark Industries (at least for now) and being Tony Stark's girlfriend gave her the push she needed to get permission to get a gun licence. She did need the protection and Tony couldn't always be there to save her after all. So she had gotten her licence, learned how to use a gun and now she had her own personal handgun paid for by Tony Stark himself.
She felt like a criminal or something walking down the streets of L.A. with a gun in her purse but she did feel better knowing that she could take care of herself. She had always hated the thought of Tony potentially putting his life at stake just to save her, which he had done many times before. Now he wouldn't have to anymore. She got into one of Tony's cars, driven by Happy of course, and they headed back to the Stark Mansion. Tony would have gone with her but he had had very important plans to look over and Pepper wasn't about to interrupt him when he was willingly doing work. Once they got back to the house Pepper headed downstairs and typed in her code to get into Tony's workshop. He was so engrossed in the plans laid out before him that he didn't even hear her come in. She walked up right behind him and kissed his neck.

"I'm back," she said quietly. Tony turned around and grinned at her.

"Did you get it?" he asked excitedly.

"Yes, yes I got it," Pepper said, "And I felt ridiculous walking around with it in my purse." She pulled it out of her bag and handed it to Tony who examined it carefully.

"Perfect," he said with a satisfied smile. He handed it back, "And now you'll be safe no matter where you are." Pepper put it back in her purse.

"I really don't think I'd ever be able to shoot anyone though," she said doubtfully. Tony kissed her sweetly.

"Hopefully you won't ever have to," he said. Pepper returned the kiss and revelled in the butterflies she still got just from kissing him. She pulled away and smiled.

"Well since I have the thing why don't we go out to the shooting range later so I can practice?"

Tony grinned. "I'll bet that you would look very sexy with that gun," he said as he planted a few more kisses down her neck, "Very Charlie's Angels." Pepper smiled and rolled her eyes.

"That was the real reason why you wanted me to get a gun wasn't it?" she teased.

"Well it was definitely up there," he replied with a cheeky grin.

And so Tony's plans and Pepper's gun sat forgotten for the rest of the afternoon.

I wonder what they did instead *waggles eyebrows* =P. Ok so this is my first Iron Man fanfict. This is set after IM2. Just a little pepperony fluff piece that I wrote down in like 15 minutes so I know it's a pretty short. BTW don't you just love their couple name; pepperony? It's so cute =) Comments appreciated.
