It has been ten years since that fateful day. There hasn't been a day where I stopped thinking about her. There were times in the beginning where I found myself reaching for the phone aching to hear her voice just one more time.
In the beginning I also told myself it was just a matter of time until she came to her senses and came back to me. Over and over I told myself that, I had almost started to believe it to.
My sister had a hard time to. Sure, she had not lost the love of her life but she had lost a dear friend and felt betrayed by her decisions. My less than sympathetic other sister told me to get over it and told me to get over it, that she sure had. That hurt.
Not as much as it did to come home to the current house we were occupying to find my family gathered around the massive table in the dining room. They told me it was an intervention, and that it had been ten years since the love of my life had dumped me and that I needed closure.
My father had found the number for the house she currently resides in. Before I could object both of my brothers grabbed my arms and guided me to a chair, sat down on either side of me and firmly held me in place while the others spoke.
"Edward, you know we all care deeply for you and we wouldn't be doing this unless it was absolutely necessary," my father said hastily.
"Yeah, Edward we only want what's best for you and this was the only way we could think of," my sister interjected "so Esme tracked down her home phone number in La Push and were going to give her a call".
"And say what?" I said angrily trying to stand up but being restrained by Emmett and Jasper. " We also found out Bella runs a online store selling vintage merchandise, we are looking to sell a 19TH century rocking chair" Alice said in a rush before my temper could get too out of hand.
"Okay" I said seeing no other possible way of getting out of this. Every single one of my family members looked taken aback. I could see in their minds they each thought it would take hours to get me even to consider it. "Get on with it before I change my mind" I said annoyed.
"Right," my father Carlisle said already dialing the number, when it was ringing he put it on speaker. " Hello, this is the…" the machine started to say in a deep voice but was cut off by a high squeaky voice saying "Hi". Carlisle looked a little stunned then said, " I'm looking for Isabella Swan".
"Um…I don't think there's a Isabella swan here".
"Oh, sorry to bother you then"
"Wait, wait you mean my mommy? She doesn't go by Bella swan anymore cause' she married my daddy"
" Oh, well is she there then?"
" No she went to dinner with my daddy and grandpa"
"How old are you exactly?" Carlisle said a little bit too curious.
" I'm five, but me and my brother are turning six next month" the girl said proudly.
" You have a brother?" Carlisle said with that same curious tone in his tone.
" Yeah, my twin brother, he's being really annoying right now. He keep's telling me how if I don't get off the phone right now he's going to tell mommy when she gets back"
" Will you get in trouble?"
"Nah, no one's here to know."
" Your home all alone?" Carlisle said with a bit of alarm in his voice.
" No, because technically the babysitter's in the living room but her face has been stuck to her boyfriend's for the last half hour, she thinks me and my brother are in our rooms asleep"
" Should you be? In your rooms asleep I mean."
"No it's only 5:45. Our bedtime is 7:00"
"Okay, well I guess if your mom's not there I call again some other time"
"Wait you never told me your name"
"It's not important, good bye"
"Well, bye I guess".
With the click of the off button Carlisle took a deep breath and said, " See there, Edward closure. She is married and has a family. She is never coming back to you. "
And with that I never once thought of Bella again.
