Power
Summary: Just because you are wise, you are courageous, and you are evil, doesn't necessarily mean you are naturally powerful.
Part of the Triforce Series.
I don't own The Legend of Zelda.
All power corrupts absolutely, and knowledge is power. It leaves you curious, leaves you wondering.
It leaves you absolutely dying to know.
Know what? That's the point. To know nothing but everything would make you want to know more, as paradoxical as that sounds. It will rot you from the inside out, feeding from your flesh, it's poison; you don't control it, it controls you. You are the host, and you are the parasite, you are dying to know, but there's nothing left, and in the end the restlessness of curiosity will completely destory your soul.
You will kill you.
Such an example would be Ganondorf. He is the king of the Gerudos, the thief lord. Naturally, he is wise, and anything below that would bring this kleptomaniac race to their downfall. Unfortunately for these women (all but the King were female), any more than needed would also lead to their demise.
Ganondorf became even more corrupted; being the King of thieves, you aren't exactly innocent in the first place. He began to search for knowledge, the urge eating him from the inside out. And then, then he found the Triforce's location, the need for vengeance devouring whatever humanity was left inside of him. The path to the Triforce, however, was dangerous; he had to brave the horrors of the Lost Woods, skeleton creatures just waiting to take his life, not to mention the woods itself. He had to defeat the pure might of the Gorons, face the inferno wrath of the mountain. He must outwit the Zoras, and beat them at their own game. Now usually this would force men into the weak path known as cowardice, but not only was Ganondorf smart, he was also courageous. He most likely the only person who could say that they feared nothing, and still be telling the truth. And really, what should he fear? He knew everything about everyone, and all of the facts needed (and unneeded) about beasts.
But he got the Triforce of Power. He didn't know that he was going to get that. Ganondorf was strong, but he wasn't powerful. He had many spells, but only through his knowledge.
'Then again,' he thought, 'With knowledge comes power.' And it had been like he expected it all along.
Of course, his power is false, and knowledge can be ignored in favor of fury, and that's why he lost. Just because you are wise, you are courageous, and you are evil, doesn't necessarily mean you are naturally powerful.
Okay, my first Zelda fic.
