Hermione's pale feet rubbed against the icy cold windowsill as she adjusted her position in the window in her room.

She sighed and gazed at her watch, almost willing it to speed up. In fourteen hours time, she would be sitting with the rest of the Weasleys, and Harry, no doubtedly eating some of Molly Weasley's homemade strawberry ice cream.

She licked her lips as she thought of the coldness, almost tasting the strawberries on her tongue.

Then, something sharp pecked the side of her head- in her slight lack of attention; she failed to notice a rather lop-sided owl approaching.

Recognising, after being brought back to reality, the owl was one of those of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, she took it from the air and took the letter from it. The bird ruffled it's feathers proudly before taking flight out the window. Once again, her attention was on the envelope it had just delivered. It seemed slightly thicker than usual- about the size of that she had received shortly before she started her third year, with a permission slip.

She slid her fingers under the flap and, with ease, prized it open.

As ever, the Hogwarts Express will be leaving from platform 9¾ at 11 a.m. on the first of September.

Enclosed is a list of books and other equipment you will require for this year.

It is also my duty to inform you that, what with your truly out-standing grades, you have been offered the role of a Prefect for the coming school year.

As a prefect, you will be expected to act responsibly and to look out for fellow students, and point the younger students in the right direction. Straight after the Welcome Feast, there will be a Prefect meeting, in which you will congregate in the chamber directly behind Professor Dumbledore's seat.

Also enclosed is your Prefect badge.

I trust you will do the school proud.
