She and He
When she had started running she did not know. She could not remember why she was here or how she got here. It was exactly a year today that she had "died". In more ways than one it felt like she had died; when she left, she left behind the only thing that saved her from death.
She was a teacher now. She taught meaning-less things like maths and science but she could teach people to hold on to what they love and cherish everything. Not to run away like she had but to turn and face the oppressive, she could teach them how not regret everything they did by just grasping the challenge with all the fight they had in them. The things she wishes someone had taught her before it was too late.
In her hand was a passport photo of him that she had managed to copy when he wasn't looking. She wanted something to remember him by if she ever had to leave or if he died. Arriving, at her destination in a hurried manor, Ruth didn't know what she wanted to find. It was the same as she had left it a whole year ago now. When she stood here and said goodbye to her only love and they kissed for the first and last time. She was momentarily distracted from her depressing line of thought by the Silhouette of a man approaching the dock. She looked over her shoulder when the shadow stopped getting bigger.
He did not know when he had started running but he knew that it was not long after his recovery from freezing at the sight of her. Just standing there like a year ago. The emotions that had played then came back and haunted him. Anger, helplessness and love.
Her face had looked as if it had been slapped when she saw him and he managed to choke down disappointment. It was as if she did not believe that he was there, like some dream she was having.
He slowed down to a jog as he approached her, then into a brisk walk, he didn't stop when he met her, well only for a brief second into those beautiful eyes that down let out droplets of water that ran down the pale contours of her cheeks. He took of his glove and wiped them away with his thumb and then he leaned in towards her and kissed her. No words were needed to tell her how much her need her, wanted her and loved her. His kissed was enough. And when she wrapped her arms around his neck and he picked her up, still kissing, she told him through her kiss how much she needed him, wanted him and loved him.
Still crying softly she woke up, knowing it was only a dream.
