Summary: The bells tolled to mark the end of light. Post Hogwarts

The bells tolled to mark the end of light.

What was bright and lively turned into the dark alleyways people have known to fear. Sometimes, just sometimes their screams can be heard; the victims.

The reign of darkness never needed nighttime to begin with. The dark no longer lurked beneath the shadow to avoid eyes, staring and silently accusing them. Hidden no longer was the soldiers; dogs who had given their loyalty out of fear; suppressed by the power of their master.

He was once a ray of hope, a beacon of truth that they supported. Yet what they never knew was that it had always burdened him, to be given their hopes and to be given tears and hatred when he failed. So he never failed them; he was the power they relied on.

They gave him power, he accepted. They gave him support, he smiled wryly in acceptance. They gave him hopes; he tried. He was theirs to keep, to claim at their beckon and calls. They said he was their hero, but in truth he was their slave.

Did they never think that even he had something to fear?

They said losses gave us strength, gave us power to try again. To rise and glower upon our past. He was the one who rose above them all, yet he fell on them and crushed them and all they've seen of him.

The hopes that once were a bright flicker of his eyes now turned to hatred; to the weariness in those green eyes that cried so many times before. Sometimes, when you lose everything you go insane. He fought that many times, like how he fought the powers within the human's darkness.

He was the darkness of their own soul, their greed and lust. He was taught of fear, and burdened by expectations. The Boy who lived was trampled down by the weight they put on his shoulders. He cried the tears they never got to cry.

He was not strong, he was afraid all along. So he took the hands of darkness to reign over the fear they threw upon him. He became a traitor, a traitor to both the darkness he learned to live in.

But they never knew that they killed Harry Potter. He was just another one who died along the rest of them all.

He was once their hero, but the bells tolled, and he no longer was.
