Disclaimer: don't own Bleach, probably never will unless they start selling massive chunks of Bleach shares at the supermarket near my house. Until then, I live in hope.

They say all you need is love. That five syllables could probably be seen as the perfect encapsulation of all of a person's possible idealisms into a single phrase, and as a shinigami captain, bleeding out probably his last drops of blood, Hitsugaya figures it was a rather odd sentence to have in his head. His blood makes little red flecks on the white, broken ice that was once his bankai, and in his blurring vision, they looked like the small delicate pink cherry blossoms that Hinamori loved so much. He turns his head as he falls almost infinitely through the viscous air that cocoons him, towards the person that mattered to him most in the world, who he possibly valued more than his life. Unlike Yachiru, he cannot recall the exact number of clouds on that day when he met the person that changed his life, and if hard pressed to answer, he would also admit he couldn't really remember the hazy details of the day that was too many thousands of minutes ago.

He hits the floor, lying in a puddle of his own blood, and a piece of ice jabs almost uncomfortably into his cheek. But that sensation too, soon passes, as his hold on the world slackens. That's okay, he thinks to himself hazily, because all that he really accounted for was the here and the now, and the only star he had really set his eyes on was Hinamori Momo. He hopes that she will survive, and that she will forgive him for the only weakness that he had yet to conquer, even after all these years they have known each other, and that was that he still couldn't protect her from the actions of those she thought she loved the most.
