The sky was beautiful. A setting sun painted the vast canvas with amazing hues of gold, red, and orange. A few clouds that still lingered from the afternoon rain shower were turned into wisps of silver by the light. Every flower and leaf was turned into a priceless creation of gemstones.
This beauty was lost on Hatake Kakashi. The jounin walked slowly through the gates of Konoha, eye on the ground. The shinobi was tired, having just returned from a monotonous five day B-mission. Now all the copy-ninja wanted to do was go home, eat, and sleep. There would probably be a shower in there too, but that was about it.
Kakashi made his way slowly up to his apartment, fishing out the key from a various pocket. The door opened slowly when he pushed it, and the jounin closed it behind him. It was usually just as he'd left it: a nightmare, the sign of a true genius. But not now. He stopped, blinking. The carpet was visible. And clean. Something was very wrong.
Further inspection showed that EVERYTHING had been tidied, polished, dusted, or otherwise cleaned. His apartment hadn't looked this nice since he'd moved in. Even the clothes he'd left lying around had been cleaned and folded, then placed into his once empty drawers. Books had been straightened, his plants had been watered (though it might have been too late for them) and the kitchen sparkled brighter than Gai's teeth.
Further inspection of the kitchen revealed a note taped to the refrigerator. Pulling it off, Kakashi scanned it quickly.
'Kashi-kun,
Your
house was a mess, so I decided to straighten it up for you, so you
wouldn't worry about it when you got home. Not that you would
anyway, being you and all. Anyway, see you when you get
back.
Iruka
P.S There's food in the fridge. Just heat it up, and then get some rest. Love you.
Smiling beneath the mask, Kakashi followed the note's instructions. It was nice, having someone who cared. Just as long as the Icha Icha books were still on the bookshelf. He didn't trust Iruka not to 'accidently' throw them away. But first, it was time to pay a visit to his favorite Chuunin. There had to be someway he could thank Iruka…..
