This is not the perspective of an actual character on the show. This is my opinion on Rucas. If you ship Rucas, then you might want to skip this chapter.
Rucas
Rucas, the shipping of Riley and Lucas.
The "It" Couple, perfect first love dynamic, relationship everyone wants to have, dream like, expected, predictable. Will most likely marry quickly, have kids, and grow old together. Probably won't fight, or get angry at each other, very similar.
This is the couple they would be if they got together.
But what will we see?
Their relationship will be cute, granted but it will also be boring, unrealistic, and entirely predictable. They're just so perfect together, it's nauseating. That's all we're going to see. Perfect, perfect, perfect. They are a very expectable couple and the perfect one too in case you missed it.
But what happens if they don't become a couple? Riley will be devastated obviously, because she's simply to previous and lovely to have her heart broken. But there's the thing, everyone has to deal with heartbreak at some point. It's natural and healthy for personal growth.
Even Cory and Topanga's relationship wasn't perfect. Well, it was but by being flawed. They argued, they broke up, they had their ups and downs. And we loved them, we thought that they were beautiful together.
Everyone thinks that Riley and Lucas are the next Cory and Topnaga, they're not. Cory and Topanga weren't perfect like Riley and Lucas are.
And besides that, I honestly think the show will be better if Riley doesn't receive a love interest. I'm not saying that just because I ship Lucaya. Think about it. The show is all about teaching life lessons, one of these lessons could be that you don't always have to have a relationship to have a happy ending.
Plus, I'd just like to point out how awkward they are. I get it, you're always awkward around your first crush, but they take it to a whole new level. I mean, it's just weird and uncomfortable to watch. They don't have to be all confident with each other, but almost everytime they're alone, I cringe.
Another thing I want to discuss is the fact that Riley doesn't fully like Lucas. When she met him, he was like a Prince Charming and that was why she liked him. When she found out he had flaws in Girl Meets Secret of Life, she didn't want to accept it. She even told him to deny it so she could keep liking him and was mad at Cory for letting her like him when he knew Lucas wasn't perfect. That's not how someone behaves when they really like someone. That's more like when you idolize a celebrity and don't want to believe that they are not perfect.
I will admit it though, I'm not entirely opposed to Rucas. It isn't a bad ship, it's just that compared to Lucaya, it looks bad.
Not to mention that "kiss". It didn't even look like a kiss, it looked like the train made a sudden, jerky movement and they accidentally touched lips. And Lucas didn't kiss Riley, Riley grabbed his face and kissed him.
I know that some Rucas shippers are going to be mad and say stuff, but this is all real facts. Even if I didn't ship Lucaya, I would feel the same way. And I can prove that because even when I didn't know Lucaya existed, I thought all of these things.
