In Dean's eyes Sam was cuter then anything in the whole world. To Dean he was the sweetest most innocent kid ever, even after everything he'd done. Even after all his
mistakes and problems was the kid that Dean had loved, no did love.
And that always made up for everything in his mind, the fact that he loved Sam and Sam loved him wiped his soul clean. As Cas liked to say love damns no man, and it saved his Sammy.
So even when Sam made mistake's and hurt and hurt and hurt Dean, Dean loved Sam and Sam loved him so it was okay.
