A post 5x11 Klaroline drabble that poured out of me. My interpretation of Caroline's speech to Klaus.

He still doesn't get it.

Stefan, Elena, Bonnie, Tyler, Matt, Jermey – they are her family and he hurt them and they hate him and she tried so hard to hate him too but no matter what he did or how furious she was at him – furious enough to wish him dead, to tear at his flesh with pliers herself – she just couldn't. She couldn't sever this thing – this connection between them. She couldn't stop caring and lusting and wanting.

Because he wasn't a monster to her. And god, what kind of person did that make her?

So she shoved and spit at him. How dare he do this to her? Tear at her heart like this? Fog her mind like this? Make her lie and deny and be at war with herself.

And she loved Tyler. She truly did.

(And Elena and Bonnie and Stefan and Matt – she loves them so, so much)

But she couldn't hate Klaus.

So she built a whole life that didn't include him – couldn't include him. If she couldn't cut him out of her heart she could at least cut him out of her life.

And this life was full of her friends and college and her high school sweetheart and her mom's pride.

(But it's not the only thing she wants)

And she wants him. In the deepest part of herself she wants to kiss him and see the world with him and fuck him and hear him laugh and love him and just be with him.

He gives her an out.

Give me one moment of truth, love, and I won't come around scraping and bruising that perfect little life you built for yourself where everybody is happy and no one hates you for wanting me.

Good, she tells him.

So she kisses him. And it's – oh.

And he's smiling at her like he's so freaking happy.

You'll be free, he says.

And she smiles so big because she feels free – so free.

(She is so freaking happy.)

She's caught between ripping his clothes off and kissing him because she just can't stop kissing him. Apparently he feels the same way because he actually rips her shirt off her at the same time pressing his whole body against her, trapping her hand in the tatters of her blouse, just kissing and kissing and kissing like it's the only thing keeping him alive.

Later, looking Matt and Elena and Stefan and Bonnie in the eye might make her feel guilty about this but not now – now this is for her.

This is what she wants.
