Secret of the Dragon
My people lived long ago. Before the titans, before the wall, and before the devastation. Our legend had been passed down from generation to generation. A secret kept from those who seek power or may fear power. This secret has been carried down through the males in my family, until I was born. The power in which turns its holders eye a bright ember color and hair so white it shames the purist snow. My father died as soon as I was born, this was not a shock to my family or mother. Once a new chosen one is born, the power leaves the previous body and moves into a new soul. As a child I was sheltered and kept away from the prying eyes of suspicious people.
That was until the wall fell….
"Mama, what's happening?" I look at my mother's face, she was never this frantic, and she was the calmest person I knew.
"Helena, look at me, you are twenty years of age now…. You know that there would once be a day where I could not follow you… my precious girl that day has come…" Tears pricked my mother's eyes.
"Mama what…." The ground shook violently, cutting my balance and sentence off.
"Helena, you need to run! Go towards the inner wall to the boats!" She yelled frantically.
She handed me a pre-packed bag and my sweater. I looked at her my eyes stung with tears that threatened to fall at any time.
"Mama, please… I don't know what's going on… "I looked at her with pleading eyes.
"There's no time to explain, please go!" She shouted.
"NO, TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING DAMN IT!" I was so angry with her my blood boiled and my hands grew hot.
"Helena calm…."She never finished her sentence, our roof was suddenly torn off of our house. I looked up and I went cold. A smiling, ugly monster peered down at us, my mother stood frozen.
"A-a Titan…. How did they get through the wall…. The wall was supposed to be indestructible…." I managed to choke out my words. My mother looked at me with pleading eyes.
"How… did you know titans were in the city…?" I looked at her. She tried to respond but before she could the disgusting creature reached its large hand towards me. I was paralyzed, that is until I felt a force knock me out of the way.
"MAMA!" I reached my hand out towards her.
"NO HELENA, YOU MUST RUN, RUN AND NEVER LOOK BACK NO MATTER WHAT!" She yelled, her tears streamed down her eyes.
"YOU MUST LIVE ON, NOW GO!" I ran… I ran till it felt like my lungs were giving out on me. I heard my mother's screams…. And then nothing. I couldn't hear the screams of terror from the other victims. I couldn't hear the pleads and prayers for help. My body was numb, my vision was impaired. Yet on instinct I knew where to go. I reached the boats and forced my way through the panicked crowd. Mothers were pleading me to take their children to the safety of Wall Rose. Yet I did not hear them. I ran across the boarding bridge just barely making it across. I fell to my knees and huffed for air, my lungs were burning and I allowed the tears to fall.
I looked up and saw what remained of Wall Rose… of my home. My world went black.
A.N, so that concludes the first chapter. I'm sorry if it was choppy and confusing. I'm hoping with time it'll get better. Later in the story we will see more into Helena's past and what not…. So yeah bear with me this is my first story that I intend to see through the end. The next chapter will be longer I promise.
