Prologue
My whole life I've been a fighter. As a kit, I fought for my life, I was the only kit of six to make it past a week. I was the smallest, every cat thought I'd not make it past birth. My mother, Witheredlife, was beside herself in grief. My father was too. The leader; Swiftstar was sad for my family, as was everyone else in the clan, too. The medicine cat, Barleytail was stumped, not being able to figure out why Star Clan would bring so many lives in the world only to be dead in the first few hours of life.
Once I became an apprentice, my life changed drastically. I was trained by the best there ever was, a cat named Brightfalcon. Not only was Brightfalcon the best warrior I'd ever seen, and the best mentor ever! She was huge! Bob-cats feared her, foxes cowered, and badgers, well they just stayed stupid. She also became my best friend, Brightfalcon did.
When I became I warrior, again, I was fighting for my life. I was now almost as big as her, my muscles rippling under my bronze fur when I walked. I've always been vein, I get distracted pretty quickly, sorry. Back to me fighting for my life. A moon after I had been made a warrior, a war broke out at a Gathering. The only thing that made this fact not totally horrible was that the moon was not covered by clouds, signaling we should stop.
WindClan was accused of prey-stealing, while ShadowClan and ThunderClan were accused of crossing the borders, and RiverClan was accused of stealing ShadowClan's kits, and ThunderClan's HighStones in the ThunderClan territory. No matter how much the leaders argued, it couldn't be decided who did the theft, who didn't, and why they did or didn't. But you are wondering how I was fighting for my life with this? No- I was not a leader, or even deputy. Brightfalcon was sitting beside me, her tail curled protectively over her pregnant belly. I sat beside her, and she instructed me to not fight, and make sure to stay neutral, unless battle came.
I obeyed, but battle came.
