"Evangelion unit 01 move out!" the command I heard as I deployed into New Tokyo 3 to destroy the 4th angel. My heart was racing as I emerged and grabbed the pallet rifle only to come face to face with the 4th angel. My training kicked in and so I fired a volley of rounds directly into the target, smoke making the target invisible. For a second I thought maybe this might be easy, I was wrong and 2 large tentacles emerged from the smoke leaving me only a split second to dodge. The tentacles managed to cut my rifle in half leaving me defenseless. The pain roared through my body as it had in the last battle, even though I knew the pain wouldn't actually hurt me I couldn't help but feel weak. Before I knew it the 4th angel was bearing down on me, another pallet rifle appeared in a building next to me but I was too terrified to move. I ran just as the angel attacked me with its tentacles again, just managing to evade it's deadly attacks. The next attack from the angel managed to cut the umbilical cable, removing my power source and forcing the Eva to use its internal battery. Before I knew it the angel grabbed the Eva's legs and threw me into the air before I landed on a hill. I heard noises coming from right next to the Eva and looked to see two of my classmates quivering in fear between Unit 01's fingers, one of them being the guy who bashed me earlier in school.
As I looked in front of me, the angel was already above me. As the angel attacked, I grabbed its tentacles to stop it from killing my classmates, the pain searing through my arms being horrendous. Misato ordered me to eject the entry plug and let them into the cockpit. I could barely move and decided to throw the angel away from me before the Eva's hands were destroyed from holding the tentacles. "Retreat get out of there!" yell Misato over the intercom. My orders were to retreat but I was tired of running away. "I mustn't run away, I mustn't run away, I mustn't run away" I said to myself as I engaged the progressive knife and charged down the hill towards the angel. Before I could reach the angel, its tentacles pierced unit 01's body causing pain I had never felt before. I was determined to win the battle and so I continued, jabbing the knife into the angel's core with only 30 seconds left of battery power. The angel and I stood there locked in battle until my battery ran out of power and the angel's core was destroyed. As Unit 01 deactivated I felt both pain and relief
