You need a report from her. Ah, crap, on which planet? Where've you even been lately? It doesn't matter anyway, she'll never buy it. Carter and her stupid report templates, churning out a new 20-page report every half hour for you to read and evaluate. If only she knew the only reason you read the damn things is because she says your name more often than Teal'c's or Daniel's... Anyway, you need a reason to be in her lab! Think!
Jack rounded the corner into Carter's lab still excuse-less. He couldn't see her at first, it was unfair how much bigger the lab was than his office. She got extra space for equipment? Well... he needed to pace.
He was about to write the whole visit off as a bad idea and never mention the fact that he'd been looking for her when suddenly, there she was. Bent over some doohickey, back to the door. She hadn't heard him come in. Military training – pah! – it all went right out the window when science was involved.
Jack decided to take advantage of the opportunity and sneak up behind her. He'd wait until she didn't appear to be doing anything dangerous, (like he could really tell. What the hell was that thing?) and then grab her or something. Actually, maybe he'd just shout "boo!" at her. Touching never led to good things.
So there he was, standing close enough behind her to count the light freckles on the back of her neck. And under other circumstances, he'd really like to count them. They were damn cute.
He didn't see a problem with just waiting a bit longer and watching her work. If he said something now – while she was doing something no doubt dangerous – and made her lose concentration, well that wouldn't be good, and she'd surely hear him if he left.
His only option was, therefore, to stare at the freckles and wonder what she tasted like. If she'd let him kiss each one. If he'd ever even get the chance.
Then he realised that he could smell her and his brain snapped, and before he knew what he was doing, he'd leaned forwards and kissed her neck.
And Carter went rigid and span around and nearly got him in the jugular with something sharp and scary looking.
His brain still wasn't working, so he gaped at her. "Shit... Ah, sorry, Carter. Major." Then he made a brisk 180 and fled.
