Sam whirled around, ready to gank the next demon to attack him and his brother, but he faltered. He pursed his eyebrows, his heartbeat quickening.
"Jess?"
The woman in front of him didn't even react to the name and gripped her own knife tightly.
Sam didn't move, simply stared in awe and horror at the girl he'd fallen in love with, glaring at him with charcoal black eyes.
"Come on, Sammy! What are you doing?" Dean called out, having noticed his brother had stopped fighting. He turned around, and his voice faltered.
His mind raced a mile a minute, and he ran towards his brother. He held Ruby's knife, and just hoping he'd get there in time, he fought off the other demons, and finally reached the woman attacking Sam, aiming to kill the demon. He thought he recognized her… but he couldn't place it. What he did know, was that Sam wasn't doing anything to stop the demon.
Sam quickly stepped in between Jess and Dean, "NO!"
"Sam, what the hell are you doing?"
Jess smirked, "That's what I'd like to know."
Dean blinked. He knew that voice. Where did he know that voice from?
"Dean. Dean, it's… it's…"
"Jess." Dean said, finally seeing her clearly, "Jess is a demon. Jess is a demon!?"
Sam took a deep breath, "We're not killing her."
"Not a smart move, Sammy…" Jess whispered behind him, and he felt a sharp pain in his back.
"Sam?! SAM!" Dean shouted, as his brother crumpled to the floor, a knife embedded in his flesh, "Oh, you bitch!"
"Dean, don't!" Sam said weakly, and Jess just grinned. She had no idea why 'Sam' wasn't trying to kill her, but she might as well make the best of it.
"See you around, Winchesters…" She blew them a kiss, and then ran out the building, leaving Dean alone with a wounded Sam.
"Sammy… you alright?"
"I'm… fine." The knife still stuck out of his back, and he smiled weakly up at his brother, "Jess is alive, Dean… Jess is alive." He closed his eyes, breaths slowing, "She's… alive."
