His whole world
Authors note: I'd like to dedicate this one to my role play buddy Sheila. Who's inspired me to keep writing.
Haley Hotchner lay back on the bed resting her head against the pillow. She was exhausted and felt like even holding her eyes open was an effort right now but even in this state she didn't care. She didn't want to sleep. She looked over at her husband with a weak tired smile, he looked impeccable as always. Only this time there was emotion on his face, his eyes shone with pride as he looked up from his new born son into the eyes of his wife. She loved him more right now than she'd ever done in her life. The small boy was tiny in his arms as his father rocked him gently.
She watched him as he stood and approached, sitting on the edge of her bed, he leaned over and gently passed there son to her; kissing her gently on the forehead as he made the exchange. It had been a frantic few hours when she'd realised she was in labour she had of course called her sister and demanded they call Aaron. He'd been at work and left his team to get on with the day as quickly as he could and rushed straight to the hospital.
Seeing him practically run into the delivery room had made her so happy, it terrified her that he'd be away and unable to get back. However despite her delight hours later as there son was being born she'd been screaming at him. How it was his fault, that if he ever touched her again she'd make him sorry he'd ever set eyes on her. He'd taken it all in his stride in his usual calm manner, which infuriated her as well, she was in pain and tired and she wanted him to be the same. She'd squeezed his hand to the point she was convinced she'd broken it but he didn't care. He talked to her, talked about there son. Helped her, and she loved him for it.
Now it was over as they sat together holding there son she could see he was tired as well, she noticed for the first time his tie had been loosened and she couldn't help but smile at that. She'd heard stories of fathers passing out, or some even not being able to be in the room. Yet here he was and the only sign that he'd been through this with her was that he'd loosened his tie.
She glanced at his belt relieved he'd had the common sense to leave his side arm at work. He caught her looking and he smiled at her reaching out to wrap his arm around her as best he could in the hospital bed. Work was the last thing on his mind right now, he just wanted her and there son to be together and enjoy these first moments. Memory's that would last a life time and he was determined they'd enjoy it all together.
As she relaxed back in his arms she glanced up at him with an exhausted smile, there eyes met once again before they both looked down at the sleeping child. She felt her eyes start to drift shut exhaustion taking over her and when he tightened his embrace around her she give in and drifted off to sleep. Aware that she'd fallen asleep Aaron leaned over and took there son back, and sat beside her holding his wife in one arm and his son in the other. He sat back to make himself as comfortable as he could and even as he felt his cell vibrate in his pocket he didn't want to acknowledge it. He wanted to stay there and ignore the outside world. Just him and the two most important people in his world.
