Hey guys, I promise that I am gonna update on my other stories over the next few days, but I wanted to give you something while I did this so, without further ado, here we are:

Cammie's POV:

Zach smiled over at me, dark green eyes dancing mischeviously.

I grinned back, heading off to the SUV.

The mission's basically done. We have this one in the bag.

Oh how things can change.

In an instant.

A single shot rang out through the cold air.

I spun around.

From then on, everything was in slow motion.

Zach was stumbling back, onto the concrete, a bullet lodged in his chest, a look of surprise on his handsome face.

He fell to the ground. Hard.

I ran over to him, heart thundering in my ears, numb. Shocking scarlet blood blossomed like a flower on his white shirt.

Crouching beside his fallen frame, I heard his gasping breath, saw his emerald eyes wince in pain.

Behind me, I heard Liz calling 111, ever the calm one - ever the calm one while I froze.

He swiftly bled out, a wide puddle of red forming. Seconds later, his shallow breathing ceased, his uneven pulse halted.

No. No.

I unfroze, ripping my shawl from my thin shoulders, pressing it to his wound and starting CPR. I breathed fresh air into his lungs. His lips tasted like acrid blood.

For several minutes this continued - and if they hadn't stopped me, I don't think I ever would have.

"Cam," came Grant's voice from behind me.

"No!" I snarled savagely.

"Cam, he's gone." It was Bex this time.

"No," I repeated, commiting to saving him with new vigour.

As the wailing of the ambulance drew nearer, Grant pulled my shaking body back, locking my arms behind me, his eyes withdrawn, focused.

I struggled, the numbness now wearing off.

Zach. Zach was lying there. Zach.

I screamed a bloodcurdling scream, fighting against him.

The paramedics quickly hooked up the mobile defibrilator and attempted to shock his heart back into life.

Ten Minutes Later:

They were done. He was dead. I forced my brain to think the words.

The paramedics lifted his broken body onto a stretcher and wheeled it past us to the ambulance.

I shrieked again, breathless, and renewed my battle to be free. Tears streamed silently down my flushed cheeks as I saw his face before they drew the black cover over his still form, because, staring back at me but seeing nothing, nothing at all were his dark green eyes. The same eyes that had looked into mine mischeviously only 15 minutes before.

Oh how things can change.

In an instant.

So, you like? You hate?

I promise that I will update sooner on my other stories. Hell, I might even write more chapters of this one if you tell me what you think!
