Rose Tyler. I can see him grimace as I say her name, though he lies to me and says he's alright.
"Doctor," I tell him, as gently as I can, "Do you love Rose? It's okay if you do, I just need to know."
His TARDIS murmurs, and I know he is thinking, but he does not answer.
"Doctor, do you love her?" I repeat, trying to keep from crying.
He draws toward me.
"River..."
And we're snogging. His lips are warm, and I can hear his hearts beating. His tears stain my cheeks, and I know he loves me, it's in the way he holds me against him.
We slide down the wall of the TARDIS and onto the metal floor, still pressed against each other , we can't let go. His bow ties slips around his neck, uneven.
"I love you." I whisper.
And then, my mother walks in.
"Melody! Doctor! Get up this instant! That's bloody disgusting!"
He pushes me off of him and adjusts his bow tie back into place.
"I apologize, Amy," he says in a cold manner. He hates how people come between us.
"Mum," I protest, "We're married!"
She rolls her eyes, and the Doctor kisses me lightly on the cheek before Mum pulls me out of the box and onto the street. It's hard when you're own mother is your husband's best friend.
