Title: This Is Goodbye

Summary: A scene taken from the movie Resident Evil Extinction of the last moments Alice and Carlos shared.

Disclaimer: I don't own Resident Evil. I wouldn't mind borrowing Carlos for a bit though...

Alice watched him as he said goodbye to the members of the convoy., before he finally walked over to her. She would be the last person he spoke to, she had intended it that way. She wanted to be the last one he was with. He stood in front of her and, for a moment, there was silence. So many things had been left unsaid between them in the past, and now they were both wondering where to begin.

"Carlos." Her voice trembled as she said his name.

"Save it." His voice showed no sign of fear. Instead it was bold, courageous. "Just promise me one thing." He softened slightly, as he grabbed hold of her hand. "When you get down there…." He paused, looking for the appropriate expression to sum up his hatred for Umbrella. But he didn't need it. She knew how he felt. It was exactly how she felt, and the bitterness in her voice was obvious when she replied.

"Consider it done." She squeezed his hand in reassurance, letting him know Umbrella where going down.

Once again there was silence, but it was brief as Alice suddenly threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around him. He hugged her back with equal ferocity, burying his face in her shoulder, taking all off her in while he had a chance. They pulled apart, but only slightly. She raised her hands to cup his face, his own hands resting on her shoulders. She leaned forward and kissed him.

In all their years of friendship, she suddenly wondered why she had never kissed him before. It was wonderful, her tongue exploring his mouth, her hands exploring his chest, passion erupted inside her like never before. She didn't care if the whole convoy was watching, she never wanted this kiss to end. She reached up and began fiddling with his collar, when it suddenly sunk in.

They had to stop.

They broke apart, foreheads resting against one another's, perhaps recovering from the kiss that had made them both weak in the knees, of perhaps just a last chance to be close.

Alice didn't want him to go. She wanted to stay there forever and kiss him. She wanted to make love to him. To show him exactly how she felt about him. But she couldn't. Because he had to go. He had to go to die. And she would never see him again.

Pleading blue eyes looked into warm brown ones. He nodded, as though understanding her thoughts. He leant forward, pressing his lips to hers. It was not passionate like their previous kiss. It was tender, loving, gentle. It was goodbye.

A/N: So I watched Resident Evil Extinction and just fell in love with this pairing! I'm so annoyed they did that too Carlos. I'm sorry, if L.J can survive for at least three days, Carlos can manage a few hours. At least his death was badass though, I would have been furious if he'd just turned into a regular zombie or something. Anyway - this fic is just a take on the scene from the movie. Hope you like it.
