He was cute, for a Hylian. At least, she thought so. She had the poor man backed against the tree. It was so cute, how he tried to deny it and even looked away. He understood her language, which was new to her. Then again, he was a Hylian, and that was the language she spoke. A pure blooded Hylian, it was rare these days. The only other she knew of was Princess Zelda, the ruler of the realm of light.
Midna moved closer to link, the young man trying to move further back against the tree. He didn't look at her. "Link." she said softly. "Have you ever been kissed by a woman?" No answer, yet she didn't expect one. She smiled an impish grin, reaching up to touch his cheek. She tilted his head up, and he finally looked at her.
There was no fear, no anger, no embarrassment. Just longing, wanting something that he knew he could never truly have. She would have to return to her own realm, and soon. He now understood who she was, and she was needed. The Twilight Princess, Midna. And he himself would have to serve to keep his home, the realm of light, safe. It was a sacrifice that he was willing to make.
And yet, he didn't want her to go. He had gotten quite attached to the Twili, and she to him. Midna smiled, pressing her lips to his forehead. It would do, for now. "I could never in my life repay you, Link. You truly are chosen by the gods themselves." she said softly. He just stared at her. In this state, she was quite beautiful. He really didn't want her to go, but at Princess Zelda's and Midna's request, he was to return to the desert for her departure into the realm of twilight.
He would never see her again. His mind repeated over and over. He didn't want her to go, yet they had their own duties to their own realms. He would never see her again. Midna would remain a memory for the rest of his days. Link would remain a memory in the rest of her days. But their journey was what mattered. The bond that they shared would last, and they would still be together in thought.
One last good-bye. One tear shed, and the mirror was destroyed. Midna returned to her realm and Link remained within his own. This was what was meant to be, it didn't matter if they were happy about it. He would set out on his next journey, without Midna by his side.
