Title: Tree Hugging
Author: IndigoStarNight
Feedback: Yes please
Summary: One morning, Thranduil woke up to find his son doing something rather peculiar.
Disclaimer: I do not own Lord of the Rings or the characters.
Warnings: None really.
Pairing: None
Author's Note: So, completely random little Legolas-cuteness. Was inspired by a fancomic I found in which Legolas is attempting to get Gimli to hug a tree (Tree Hugger by NekoMegami-chan on deviantart if anyone wants to know). In my mind Legolas is about the equivalent of a six year old in this fic. The thing at the end with the strawberries is thanks to several fics I read a long time ago which gave my mental Legolas a permanent addiction to all forms of strawberries. I hope you enjoy, its just meant to be cute, nothing else. PLEASE REVIEW!
Enjoy!
It was a lovely morning in Mirkwood. Thranduil smiled softly to himself as he stepped out onto his balcony and took a deep breath of the cool forest air. He leaned against the balcony railing gazing out over his kingdom and simply enjoying the quiet and peace of the morning.
It was then that he noticed a certain little blonde head racing around in the outskirts of the forest below the King's balcony. Thranduil watched his young son, frowning absently and wondering what the elfling was doing.
Legolas was running from tree to tree, pausing for a moment to wrap his little arms around each tree trunk before scurrying to the next one, and so on and so forth in an ever widening circle away from the palace walls.
Before long however, Thranduil's curiosity got the better of him and he called down to the young elf, "Legolas, fion-nin, whatever are you doing?"
Legolas stopped, blinking up at his father, "Hugging the trees," he responded matter-of-factly.
Thranduil, though still a little bemused, couldn't help but smile, "Why?" he asked.
"Why not?" Legolas shot back, with a contrite pout.
The Elf King laughed at that, though he tried not to let his son see, "Of course, why not indeed," he shook his head, still smiling to himself, "Well, come in and have some breakfast now."
"But I haven't hugged them all yet," the Prince pouted.
"You can continue after you eat, I'm sure they will not mind waiting," Thranduil said, his stern tone rather ruined by his barely concealed amusement, "Besides, we've just gotten a fresh supply of strawberries."
Legolas' face immediately lit up and he fled to the dinning hall without another word.
Thranduil, still chuckling, turned to join his son.
