Title: Two Poles of a Magnet

Written by: Somnion

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto, because if I did Neji and Hinata would already be married by now.

Something I thought about when I reflected on the nature of Neji and Hinata's relationship. Quite short though…

As far as the world was concerned, they were two complete opposites, two poles of a magnet.

He was a prodigy, an elite amongst his clansmen

She was a failure, a disgrace amongst her family.

Wherever he walked, he walked with pride, confident in his formidable fighting prowess that was his birthright.

Wherever she walked, she walked with shame, embarrassed by her inability and weakness.

Everywhere he went, eyes would be upon him, for people held him in awe and respect due to his abilities and strength. Yet, no comfort did he find within them.

Everywhere she went, no one would notice her, for it was as though she were a phantom or the wind. Yet, she found comfort in the few who did notice her.

In his eyes, he saw his destiny carved in stone, unchanging and immovable.

In her eyes, she saw her destiny as an empty scroll with a pen and ink for her, waiting for her to write it.

Most of all, he was a branch family member and she was from the head family, the greatest difference when born into the Hyuga family.

Yet despite these differences, there were more similarities between them than anyone ever knew.

They both had lost their fathers, his through death, hers through her father's disapproval and neglect.

They were both outcasts among their family, he being born a branch family member, she for being an embarrassment to the head family.

They both strove to prove themselves to the family, that he was as capable as any head family member and that she was capable to live up to the expectations of the head family.

Most of all, it took a dumb, blonde loud-mouthed ninja boy to make them realize how similar their plights were.

They say opposites attract, and given their differences and similarities, it couldn't be more true for these two individuals.

Perhaps that is the reason why neither felt upset when Hiashi-sama proposed an arranged marriage between them.

Nor were they surprised when neither objected to the proposition.

Nor were they astonished to find out that most of their teammates figured they would make a nice couple when they found out about the engagement.

Nor did they feel uncomfortable when they held hands on their wedding day as the priest officiated their wedding.

After all, they were two poles of a magnet, and hey, two poles of a magnet always attract.

The End.

I hope it was ok, this being my first Nejihina fic. Please leave a review if you can. Reviews would be great to help me better my writing. Thanks for your support
