Author's Note: So, first Stargate fic. I probably shouldn't be starting new stories when I'm so close to going back to school, but whatever. A lot of this was based off the season nine episode "Prototype" - you could say this is an AU version of that episode. This is all I've written at the moment. I'll update when I'm able to.
Pairings: None, at the moment.
Warnings: Some violence, language.
Disclaimer: I do not own Stargate SG-1.

Vengeance
Prologue

It spread through him like fire, burning through his veins, an addictive mix of pain and power. The feeling was not foreign to him but was instead familiar, comforting, a welcome return to something he had lost along the way, and he let himself be swept away by it.

His heartbeat echoed within his own head, slow and calm, peaceful, giving no indication of what was about to happen. They'd have trouble believing it. They didn't understand, though. That bastard had to die.

Nodding to an airman he headed down one of the many hallways of the SGC, towards the infirmary, which had been transformed into a holding cell for their new "guest". The men guarding the room didn't think twice when he asked them to leave, and as the door closed behind them he tightened his grip on the small blade hidden in his right hand.

The one he was after, a monster dressed as a man, was strapped to a chair in the centre of the room. His dark eyes watched with curiosity as his visitor walked to stand before him, and despite his restraints he shifted comfortably in his chair.

"I knew you'd come." His voice was smug, victorious.

"You started this." He advanced further, until he was less than an arms' length away. "You brought this down upon yourself."

The thing smiled. "This battle is far from over."

"No," he replied, his gaze hardening. "This ends now."

And without further warning Daniel's arm shot forward, blade glinting briefly in the light before the metal met skin and he tore through the monster's throat.
