Title: Someday
Summary: It's Shawn's birthday!!!!!!
Notes: A little birthday fic for Leanne.. got it in with an hour to spare- wooo! Set back in about 1993.
"Knock, knock." The door opened as Kevin peered round the corner of the door to Shawn's hotel room.
Shawn was still laying in bed, eyes looking tired and a little hungover from the night before. He and Kevin had a heavy drinking session, but Shawn had decided to get extra drunk, just for fun.
"You have the power of speech yet?" Kevin asked.
"Kinda." Shawn mumbled.
Kev smiled and stepped fully into the room. "Good, then Happy Birthday."
"Wha?" Shawn asked, the end of the word cut off by a huge yawn. "How do you know it's my birthday?"
"You told me when you were drunk last night."
"I did? I say anything else stupid?"
"Nah. Well, just the sort of stupid things you say when you're sober."
"Thanks. Hey, how did you remember anything from last night, weren't you drunk too?"
"Not like you were, bud. Anyway, get up and get dressed and we'll get some breakfast... or, well, lunch probably." Kevin said. "Oh, before I forget, here you go." He handed Shawn a card. "I didn't get you a present, I couldn't think of anything that you'd want."
"You got me a card?"
"That's what that card like thing is your hands." Kev said amused.
Shawn opened it up carefully, took the card out and read it. He didn't say anything. At all.
"Is it okay?" Kev asked eventually confused by Shawn's silence.
"Yeah....." Shawn paused, still staring down at the card. "Jus' no one ever got me a card before, 'cept my family. Told ya know one here liked me."
Kev felt the smile leave his face, his heart skipping a beat at Shawn's admission. "And I told you that I don't care about what anyone else thinks. I like you."
"Thanks." Shawn said, as he put the card back in the envelope and subconsciously held it closer to his body, almost as he drew some sort of comfort from it.
"No problem, now c'mon, I'll treat you to some dinner." Kev said, thinking how glad he was that he'd met Shawn and that he was in his life. He was a good guy, if only he could make him realise it. He was determined that he would do, someday.
