"Weiss don't cry, look at me. Just look at me."
Tears are running down my face, I can't even look at her. The flames are burning up behind her. I can't do anything now the tears are running down my face. I feel my fist colliding with the sheet of glass separating us. I can't do a goddamn thing. Through my tears I choke out a few words,
"H-how c-can you act like that Ruby!? Why are you smiling?"
The smile on her face is quiet and sad. I don't understand her the flames are licking the back of her cloak. She only has a few moments left before they engulf her.
"Because when I see you, Weiss, I'm as strong as i'll ever be and I hope my smile will do the same for you."
The tears are only going faster, my eyes are are bloodshot, mascara is running down my face. I try to speak and the only thing that comes out is a mangled sound of grief and pain. I try to wipe away the tears. They only fall faster, I can't respond.
"Ruby, I- uh- I just- Ruby" my voice is just above a whisper I don't know if she can hear it over the roaring flames "Ruby I-I I love you." The tears are falling harder than I ever thought possible. I don't know if she can hear me, a single tear falls down her face. The flames are roaring up around her. Her smile is still on her face, more tears are falling.
She presses her hand up to the glass, her eyes filled with tears. I push harder, I hope that maybe I can push through the glass and save her, I know that I can't.
"Weiss, I'm not really going, I'll always be with you, and don't say goodbye, I hate goodbyes. And Weiss," I look up into her eyes, and for a moment all the flame has gone away, "I love you." The flame engulfs her and I collapse onto the ground. The tears are pouring from my eyes, I can't change anything. She's gone.
"I love you."
