The Eyes
The night glistened. The stars of a million worlds shone in the sky, beckoning to the people of the village. That particular night, one of those stars fell. One girl saw it. She was young, and often looked to the stars to dream, and as she walked the lanes of her home, she stole a moment to glance upwards once again. She saw the sky light up like a fire and the houses around her awash with a pale glow. She felt the light on her face and in without a moment's apprehension, she abandoned her task and sought out adventure. Her mother had often scolded her for dreaming of stars and what secrets they held from mankind, always saying that her place was among the workers of the village, and she shouldn't be so silly to dream of impossible things, it would be the death of her one day. But the girl never listened. And perhaps she should of.
Running towards the paddy fields and towards where the light had fallen, she felt excitement. As she came round a corner, she saw it. The excitement grew until it covered her body, but there was something else in the pit of her stomach. A silent nagging that told her she should run as fast as she could, because there was something about the air as she drew nearer to it. It was cold. As she grew closer, the night once again fell silent.
"So, where are we going then?" Amy inquired, trailing her hand along the console as she circled the centre of the TARDIS. Rory was sat in one of the chairs along side, reading.
"Japan. Some when. Never been there, there's a first for everything!" The Doctor replied, running madly around, pulling levers and pressing buttons that seemed to do nothing and made little sense.
"Any reason for your sudden change of heart? I thought we were going to the planet with all the glittery things" Amy responded, leaning on the console and frowning at the Doctor.
"Amelia, do I ever have a reason for anything? The Baroxi Paltoon is over-rated, I like Japan now. Japan. Will. Be. Cool." He grinned at his companion, reaching up to pull an over head cord that Amy had never noticed before.
"Fine" She smiled back and went to sit next to her husband. She watched as the doctor banged various objects on the console and shook the screen energetically a couple of times.
"You're still suspicious aren't you" Rory whispered, looking at her with his eyebrows furrowed.
"Of course I am, it's him, I'm always suspicious of his sudden excursions." Amy narrowed her eyes and continued to watch the doctor on his frantic course around the central console, which was bathed in light from the cylinder in the centre.
"He's the Doctor, I think he knows what he's doing, it's not like he's going to put us all into danger"
"Excuse me, Rory, are you oblivious to what danger is? We've battled fish-vampires, monsters that you forget about when you see them, the universe flipping exploding, and that's to say the least" Amy snorted and turned her gaze to Rory, one eyebrow raised endearingly, a smile playing across her lips.
"Okay, I get your point, but come on, it's fine! You're worrying about him too much."
"I always worry about hi-" She was cut off as a sudden and sickening jolt threw them onto the floor. They both looked up for answers, but the Doctor was looking perplexed at his console, his hands retracted as if he'd just been bitten by a snake.
"That wasn't supposed to happen..." He said, still staring cautiously at the screen." Then he turned and his face lit up. "I guess we're in Japan now!"
He pulled them up and beamed at them, the over-excitement of a child on his first holiday to a new place brimming in his eyes. Suddenly his face turned serious.
"Do you think I could get one of those triangle hats?"
