Written for the Of Weather and Characteristics challenge by: I promise you that, on the Harry Potter Fanfiction Challenge Forum
Disclaimer I don't own anything you recognize.
Things I used in the story:
Weather: Blizzard, Ice Crystals, and howling wind,
Characteristics: Quiet, puzzled, and sincere
Bold words are the prompts. I made it easier for the person who made the challenge to find them.
Ron trudged through the thick snow as he held the packages tight. Why did they have to come today of all days during the first blizzard? The tall redhead opened the door just in time as the howling wind nipped his nose. He grumbled, and stared at the empty shop and realized it was too quiet for his liking. He was use to it being busy and full of life, especially at six in the evening. He saw Hermione standing in the threshold of the stairs that lead to the apartment they were watching for George while he was out of town.
"Hermion-" he started to say, but really took a second look at her. She was wearing a robe, not a wizard robe, but a white bath robe and had that 'come and get me grin' on her face.
" Let's go up early tonight," she started to say.
Hermione and Ron had been trying to make a baby ever since they got married. A year into marriage, and still no baby.
"I can't tonight. I have to refill the stocks, and do inventory tonight," Ron said sadly with a look of longing at Hermione. He dropped the packages on the counter next to him and stared at the blizzard outside. The ice crystals started to form on the window as the snow blew hard outside. "I wish I was by a warm fire instead of doing work," he grumbled. He felt her arms wrap around him tight as he stared at the falling snow.
"Her-Mi-On-E!" he said in a way that only belonged to her, but was also a warning.
"You sure, Ron? I've bought something new to wear at that place you like." He pushed her off of him, and turned around. She gave him a puzzled look and crossed her arms.
"Hermione, I can't. George comes back tomorrow," Ron said sadly. He stared her up and down and wished he could be with her tonight. He focused on the window and the blizzard instead of Hermione so he wouldn't be tempted. Before she could say another word, Ron continued.
"Give me three hours and I should have everything done. I've got loads of work to do before tomorrow morning," Ron said in a tone that told her he was being sincere. She pouted at him for not getting her way. Hermione sighed, uncrossed her arms and made her way towards him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and smiled up at him.
"I'm giving you three hours. If you're not up in three hours, I'll be asleep." Hermione cupped his chin with her hands, kissed his lips softly, and bit down hard on one of them. Ron felt warm and fuzzy all over as she teased him. He wanted to go to her, but couldn't give into temptation. He had work to do. The kiss ended causing Hermione to step back from him. She raised her hand and held out three fingers telling him three hours.
"Three hours. That's all," she said sweetly. Ron watched her walk away before turning back to the window.
"Damn," he said as he watched the snow fall from the night sky. He sighed, turned back around and attempted to focus on his work.
