A/N: I've been thinking about this lately, and the song that helped me get inspiration enough was 'Me Too' by Toby Keith. I hope you like it!

Disclaimer: I don't own anything you recognize. The song belongs to Toby Keith; the characters belong to J.K. Rowling

One night, as they sat on the couch in the common room, Lily snuggled into James's shoulder, sighing. "I love you," she whispered, her eyes drooping closed.

James paused, looking at her. It was the first time she had told him that and he felt bad as he said, "Me too." She didn't hear though because she was asleep.

When those three little words come so easy to you
I hope you know what I mean when I say, me too

It wasn't anything special that he could recall, but as he walked past the flower shop in Hogsmeade, he had to pick a bunch of flowers out for her. It showed that he loved her, even if he couldn't tell her just yet.

Her eyes lit up that evening when he handed her the bouquet. Her eyes closed as she sniffed at the roses. He ran his hand through his hair, chuckling nervously. "I wasn't sure if it was anything special tonight but I had to…" he began to say but she cut him off.

"I love it… It's so beautiful. I love you," she whispered, and tears began to flow unchecked down her cheeks.

"Me too," he said softly, catching her chin and kissing her sweetly on the mouth.

Oh I'm just a man that's the way I was made
I'm not too good at sayin' what you need me to say

The day of their wedding was closing in on them and Lily ran around checking on last minute fixings. James sat down wearily and shook his head when everyone asked if he wanted anything.

"No… I want something that you can't give me," he sighed, running his hand over his face. As a matter of fact, he wanted a minute or two alone with the woman he was marrying, just so he could tell her what he hadn't been able to tell her for the past year.

He found himself wondering if he was ever going to be alone with her. Sirius patted his friend on the shoulder sympathetically.

"You will be able to tell her eventually," he said, in an attempt to cheer James up. Remus nodded by his side.

"I know, I know," James sighed again, "But Lily is going on about that Muggle tradition…"

Remus laughed. "I thought she might… she's definitely Muggle through-and-through."

"She is at that." James rested his head on his arm. Remus and Sirius looked at each other significantly.

It's always right there on the tip of my tongue
It might go unsaid but it won't go undone

The day of their wedding came and went, leaving them at the altar, having said their vows and sharing a kiss to seal it.

Lily was talking to her parents, leaving James looking forlorn. "James, just go over there and tell her," Remus suggested, pushing James toward Lily.

He walked over, smiling and putting his arm around her shoulder. She glanced up, planted a kiss on his chin and continued talking.

Just as the clock said three, Lily looked up again and whispered, "I love you," her eyes glittering softly.

James gulped. She had handed him the chance he was hoping for, and all he could say was, "Me too."

Me too, me too, hope you know what I mean when I say
Me too, me too
