Val and Jamie were walking in the parking lot when they saw Caitie and Tyler getting out of the car.
" There they are. Let's go," Val told Jamie.
" Hey Caitie. Tyler," Jamie said to both of them.
" Hi. Hey Val," Tyler said.
" Hi." There was a very long pause. Caitie finally both the silence.
" So, let's go boogie. Isn't that what young adolescents do?" They all kind of chuckled. They danced and talked most of the night. All 4 of them went outside for fresh air.
" Hey, me and Val-"Jamie started.
" Val and I," Caitie corrected.
" Fine. Val and I are gonna go get something to drink. You guys want anything?"
" No thanks." Val and Jamie both walked down the path to the refreshment stand. Caitie and Tyler sat down on a bench.
" Tyler, can I ask you something?" Caitie asked.
" Go ahead."
" Why did you ask me to the dance? It wasn't some sorta deal, was it?" There was a pause.
" No. It's just, I feel that under that Come-any-closer-and-you-won't-live-till-tomorrow attitude is a really sweet girl. I mean, how you aren't fake is so cool to me. That you won't do anything that someone else is doing unless you want to. Why'd you say yes?" He asked.
" The truth? Well, I kind of wanted to go with someone and no one asked me. And when you asked me, I guess I just wanted to know what it was like to go out with someone popular. I really like you though. Doesn't sound like me huh?" She explained. Tyler just looked at her. She is really the girl you need. Someone honest! The little voice said to him. Next thing he knew, he leaned in to kiss her.
OMG! OMG! He's going to kiss me!! Caitie's little voice said to her.

" Connell! Come here!" Ryan, from the football team yelled.
" I'll be right back." He walked over to Ryan, which was still in earshot of Caitie, to talk.
" Listen man, I should pay you bonus for the kiss with Roth! I never thought you'd go that far!!" Ryan said. Tyler turned around to look at Caitie.
She had tears in her eyes.
" There wasn't a deal, huh?" She said to him. She turned around and ran.
" Caitie wait!" Tyler yelled.
