Notes: Spoiler for Hero

From Time To Time (That's All)

He still misses him. At times when it's quiet and things are momentarily forgotten. When he ducks into a sports bar to find some random evil of the week. And he forgets from time to time, such as hearing something crazy on the streets, then rushing to tell the Irish half-and-half before it registers back into his mind. He hates it when he forgets; it just makes the remembrance worse. And Angel thinks about what the Brachen would say (He'd say that the centuries were finally catching on).

Then, from time to time, the vampire would sneak out from a night at the office. Go to a dim-lit bar and raise a couple of drinks for him. Maybe even read a couple of pages of Angela's Ashes, too. And he might slip back into his accent, just for the hell of it – 'cause he can do that. Now, if he starts talking to himself with the accent, he'll know he had a bit too much at the pub.

Every night, he's out on the streets to fight for what's right, and he is focused and determined. But he wonders what he'll be in another two hundred years? Human? Dust? What will he be? And he asks Wesley because Wes is the one that would know. The answer is always the same: He's a champion – it's written in his destiny. Like he knows what that means.

So he slips away, from time to time, to a dim-lit bar and he raises a couple of drinks for Doyle – 'cause he'll always be missed. And at times when it's quiet and things are momentarily forgotten, Angel watches the sports channel, pretending all is right with the world (It gets easier).

And he still misses him, at times.
